ugh....awful

... that's Traore! (Neanderthal), Sunday, 26 January 2020 20:55 (four years ago) link

I thought this thread by a friend was very well said.

THREAD: All I can think about is this clip that went viral a few weeks ago of Kobe and his 13 year old daughter, Gianna, aka Gigi (now confirmed to have perished with him in the helicopter crash with him). He was dad-splaining basketball, and she was ribbing him for doing it. pic.twitter.com/qr3oRqCLOq

I don't really see 'ribbing' there but that does look like a tender father-daughter moment

Paul Ponzi, Sunday, 26 January 2020 23:57 (four years ago) link

i guess this is a good time to tell my story. in one of my former jobs here in Los Angeles we had a subsidy company that was a limo company. anyways, Kobe left his camera in the back seat of one of the limos. they knew i lived in Orange County and told me they would give me a car for the night and my job was to go to his house in Newport Beach and take him his camera. fair enough, when i got to the security gate i had clearance and all that. so i went up to his door and knocked. i'm expecting like a maid or butler or someone else to answer the front door. nope, it was Kobe himself so he actually took some time and we talked for a few moments. it was sort of a surreal experience but not too unusual as i have met a lot of stars at that job and it became sort of normal for me. when you are meeting the members of Metallica, having Renée Zellweger calling me telling me that she just wrecked our BMW and giving me the location of that car or having Kim Gordon telling me to turn down Led Zeppelin (true story) as she was trying to talk to someone. then it became sort of normal for me.

RIP Kobe Bryant

Bob Gullotti, drummer for Boston jazz trio The Fringe and professor at Berklee Schoolof Music, at 71. Don't know if anyone on here is familiar with them, but he was a monster drummer and they were a fantastic band. I used to go see them play every week at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge.

Illustrator/Artist Jason Polan

hearing really sad news that the artist jason polan has passed way. i didn't know him well but he always seemed a very talented, energetic, and unique person. i loved getting the chance to write about his taco bell drawing club last year. https://t.co/xeUL85NzRZ

I hate that damned show, but when that smug twat Mitchell replaces him it will be even worse! He was excellent in Mr Jolly Lives Next Door tbf.

calzino, Tuesday, 28 January 2020 11:14 (four years ago) link

Honestly I haven't been able to listen to it since he decided some time in the 90s that "deviation" meant "making a joke" and that every dispute could be fixed by alternating "benefit of the doubt" which just made for decades of boring radio. Williams, Jones and Nimmo being dead obviously didn't help, their attacks on him were the best part of it. Afraid to say the future host JAM is most likely the dreaded Brandreth IMO, Mitchell would be a bit better, not that I would listen to it anyway tbph.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Tuesday, 28 January 2020 11:23 (four years ago) link

all 9 circles of hell = being trapped in a leaky reeking portaloo with Brandreth + Mitchell for eternity.
