Just did my first month of VIP. Was totally worth it. Tempted to keep going, but part of me is still like "fuck this microtransaction psychological trap bullshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit"

with all these Okoye offers lately I just champed her! after however many years, yay.

12 champed 5* now, guess I'll collect shards for Cable now who is at 5-4-3. maybe I should just for Kitty Pride but she's kinda boring to play since you need to run her with 4rocket to make her great and I don't like always being so locked down.

Run her with OML instead; in PvE, you get two shields that limit initial damage, then firing her red puts two strikes on the board that enables her buff mechanic and makes you virtually untouchable while dropping massive hits within 2-3 turns, plus any power that damages you throws 3 attacks on the board that accelerates the carnage. An undercovered but color-complete Beta Ray Bill makes the whole thing ludicrously funny because he drops a countdown that adds even more protects off his blue that keeps the buff train going AND every time you match a protect, you get blue and green to refire the protect countdown and to trigger his 3-hit nuke, now bolstered by all of OML's free red strikes.

good idea! I have OML champed. by contrast I need 4 covers for Kitty Pride (though I have two saved covers, she's at 3-7-1 really, ugh). Beta Ray Bill seems fun, I have him at 0-4-1 with some hope of champing him before he leaves LL since that'll be some months still.

Yeah, I was looking through my roster looking for anyone else to pair her with other than R&G; my Hela and Cable are undercovered but I have OML champed and he can tank on black and has a passive true heal and I went "HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM"

If I get tired of BRB, I may switch to Nico or Cloak & Dagger as alternate 4*s that can help accelerate the whole process

I've also been super, super into 5* Gambit/5* Storm/who cares

I sold my 5* Gambit at the nerf and only have a few covers now. 5*Storm I have at 3-5-2 so I might get her champed eventually.

I refused to sell him because he was one of the only 5* champs I had at the time and I didn't believe he would remain worthless; eventually someone would come along that could help make him relevant again. Storm is great because she passively puts out enough charged tiles for Gambit's red to hit at max value at the same time his passive gives you enough red to fire it; a single red match accelerates it and also fills up enough of Storm's black for her to fire her nuke at will; rinse/repeat

At this point, I just use Gambit's purple to wipe specials off the board; damage from the countdowns actually firing is a bonus

I need to stop hoarding CP, don't I? I'm never gonna bite on those 500CP offers...
Kind of in bewilderment that you guys have ever champed a 5*

Just got my first 5* with five covers (OML yellow, so niiice). Day 1098, so hopefully I'll get a second yellow by day 2000.

A lot of people claim that hoarding helps you champ the latest 5* and there is truth to that theory but if you just play for consistent progression, you can steadily grow your roster and more avenues for CP and legendary tokens open up for you. I think I have only ever hoarded a max of 300 CP (maybe 500?) and I’ve never spent it on a Heroes for Hire deal or a specific cover.

Speaking of which, I champed 5* Captain Marvel today because I got a cover from the special Okoye store and I thought why not?

The iso-8 multiplier bonus they gave us over the holidays got me back into the game, though once it was over I stopped completing the Deadpool dailies once more. PvP still hopeless but I'm fine with grinding it out in SP as I always have, until I inevitably get bored again.

I took a couple months off but then got back into it again.

I can't hoard cp or LL tokens, I'm playing for instant gratification. Delayed gratification is for real life, not video games.

Champed 5*s rule, the game gets so much faster...which makes you think, if you're just trying to get your play over with, why are you playing? But I suppress that thought.

I don’t view it as playing to get play over with; I think of it as trying to set up a jackpot on a virtual slot machine.

really I just like match-three-ing, even if four completes per node of PVE is too much

Stuck at 5/1/5 for ages, Dr. Strange has finally been championed. I had to trade my 3 duplicate covers and get 500 shards to do it, but now it's done. Next up is Clint Barton, currently 3/4/3.

I find that 5* Carnage and Prof X are both pretty good at low covers for their passives. Carnage makes free matches and low-power special tiles. X creates board shake and damage off of match-4s.

Kitty/5* Carnage/BRB is kind of an unfair team

Day 2189 has a nice stream of rewards - 6500 iso, 25cp, 3 Devil Dinosaurs and a Taskmaster for 6 days straight.

Short of iso again after having 3mil+ because champing 5* is expensive. Have all but four 4* fully covered (including the limited ones) but many left unchamped.

Nico is fantastic if you don't have a decently-leveled Kitty and Domino is wonderful for anyone who needs black AP to do their thing. Kraven seems useless but he is a surprisingly effective Gritty counter and plays extremely well with other Sinister Six characters, especially Carnage. MODOK also did some great things for me when I put him with Kitty/OML; 6 red AP gives you attacks and strikes which Kitty immediately starts buffing, which rules.

LOL that you put X-23 in the "who really cares" tier twice, that is OTM

lol, I'm annoyed that rng has given me so many x-23 covers, she's my 2nd highest covered 4*, at 319, just behind Invisible Woman at 320. :(

Oof. My top 4* is America Chavez at 332, followed by Rogue (323) and XFW (323)

Agree on Medusa/Captain Marvel, they got a lot of playtime for me. I don't think Kraven and Nico should be that low for the reasons DJP said

Wish I hadn't sold my XFW back in the day. I was just really bored of him but I could really use the OML covers.

Also want to say Spider-Gwen/Miles/Iron Spider works way better than it should, Kate Bishop's heal block is sometimes a life-saver, and Quake's near-nullification of non-Okoye-boosted AOE is wonderful

(I haven't actually run Gwen/Miles/Miguel but I can see with Miguel's web spam that team getting OP very quickly)

Do you guys sell your 3* as soon as you complete the cycle? I'm finding it hard to let go of 'em and just buy another roster slot. Esp hard to drop my maxed out 3* Doctor Strange, with 4* Starlord and 4* Carol, too good for AI NPC teams.

I did the first time through, now I have enough hp to keep a copy

I usually sell maxed 3*s right away. I kept Scarlet Witch for a while because I actually use her. Thanos is another good one.

I started keeping my max champed 3*s as a usable ISO bank that I can dip into if I suddenly need to max champ a 5*. Currently waiting on a 13th Iceman cover to dip into it (sitting on 19 with Scarlet Witch and Spidey at 259 each)

I've been working on bringing the last few ***s I have up to champion level. It's amazing how much easier this is to do with the shard system. You can just pile up the shards until they're ready and not have to worry about the cards expiring or needing to make room on your roster.

spidey instead of juggernaut for your * is interesting. just bored of jugs or do you find yourself using spidey outside of the daily?

I think he's slightly better for the daily. Red is similar and he has two other direct damage powers instead of 1 other.

1* Spidey is a bad-ass

I ended up leveling 1* Spidey and 1* Iron Man just to accelerate DDQ

Hmm, maybe I'll try switching to Spidey just to spice things up a bit

His red is high enough to one-shot most (if not all) DDQ enemies, his purple drops crits and his blue stuns. It's glorious.

I like IM because his yellow does damage as well as negating the already-trivial match damage from DDQ enemies.

I used to have the three of them together but then I pared it down. That was like two years ago tho lol
