Matt appeared briefly as the drummer on the debut album of Michael Michael in high school. With hits White Guys and Dear Mr. Santa, cassette sales pushed the album to Double Plastic status.

The waste hot water from the Dungeness nuclear power stations is pumped into the sea through two outfall pipes, enriching the biological productivity of the sea bed and attracting seabirds from miles around.[citation needed]

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 12:31 (four years ago) link

gosh wonder which power stations' administrator could possibly be the source

Doctor Casino, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 12:59 (four years ago) link

also i've been reading a lot about river ecosystems and pollution this week, and i could easily imagine that "biological productivity" just means that raising the temperature of the water facilitates a profusion of bacteria, which is actually bad for marine ecosystems, since they'll deplete all the available oxygen.

Doctor Casino, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 13:38 (four years ago) link

I stumbled upon it looking up Dungeness' shingle beach. And then this afternoon on the radio I heard they're planning to dump Fukushima's radioactive water out into sea as well.

Albee Square West is also the name of a street that originates at Albee Square. It carries northbound traffic for one block from Fulton Street at its southern end to Willoughby Street at itn end, Albee Square West becomes Gold Street, a one-way southbound street that continues north for two blocks to Myrtle Avenue. The theme song of the film, written by Cliff was actually a ballad depiction of how Cliff was in real life, the lyrics "he walks tall with his head held high, before he backs down he would rather die, he's a mean machine, none tougher than, the man, man, man, man-cunian man!" were EXACTLY how Cliff lived his life. To those who REALLY knew him, rather than those who knew him vaguely or claimed to know him; his true friends who lived day by day, shoulder to shoulder with him through the 1980s and into the 1990s saw him live by his words and actually led by example, often daring to venture where others genuinely feared to tread.

Cliff took a short break in December 1985 and January 1986 when he was invited to join his friend Brian in Iceland, this is where Brian was co-producing a play, Trafford Tanzi with Jon Paul Baldwinsson of the Icelandic National Theatre. It was there that Cliff met Brian's old friend and 4 time World's Strongest Man, [Jon Pall Sigmarsson]. More information is on the web site www.bs-v.tv which is the official website of one Cliff's closest friends through the 1980s and into the 1990s, Brian Sterling-Vete; Cliff's other great friend Stuart Hurst should also be consulted as he also worked super-closely with Cliff right through to the very end.

In 2015, after receiving criticism for insulting the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic in a music video, El Alfa was sentenced to 15 days of community service. The President of El Instituto Duartino, Cesar Romero called for the boycott and destruction of El Alfa's albums for having disrespected the founding fathers. Part of El Alfa's sentencing was to clean the Plaza de la Bandera and to sing the national anthem for two hours for fifteen consecutive days. Additionally, El Alfa was ordered to hand out educational pamphlets about the founding fathers at traffic lights in Santo Domingo. He considered the situation a misunderstanding.

At age 13, he survived the 1944 Hartford circus fire which killed 169 people in Connecticut, and he never sat in an audience again throughout the remainder of his life. Because of the event's trauma, he rarely attended theater, stating that the large crowds reminded him of what happened that day.

Thanks a bunch, Johnny Crawford.

Crawford had a key role in the early career of entertainer Victoria Jackson, of Saturday Night Live fame. After the two appeared together in a summer stock production of Meet Me in St. Louis, he presented her with a one-way ticket to California and encouraged her to pursue a Hollywood career.

Shuttle Carrier Aircraft:

The aircraft was extensively modified for NASA by Boeing in 1976.[2] While first-class seats were kept for NASA passengers, its main cabin and insulation were stripped,[3] mounting struts were added, and the fuselage was strengthened. Vertical stabilizers were added to the tail to aid stability when the Orbiter was being carried. The avionics and engines were also upgraded, and an escape tunnel system similar to that used on Boeing's first 747 test flights was added. The flight crew escape tunnel system was later removed following the completion of the Approach and Landing Tests (ALT) because of concerns over possible engine ingestion of an escaping crew member.

xps Charles Nelson Reilly.

Among the survivors were renowned circus clown Emmett Kelly and three future notables: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame drummer Hal Blaine, actor Charles Nelson Reilly and former Connecticut Lt. Gov. Eunice Groark.

Eunice Groark is stretching the notion of notable just a bit.

from Youth in Revolt (film) - haven't seen the movie, is this accurate?

Nick steals his father's car to escape the police. He then removes his clothes and drives the car into a shallow lake in front of the police station. He buys a wig and a dress and impersonates one of Sheeni's "friends". He fools Mr. and Mrs. Saunders and goes up to Sheeni's room. Upstairs, Nick tells Sheeni that he understands what loneliness is like, and that everything he has done, including burning down Berkeley, destroying his parents' cars and having her sedated were all so that they wouldn't have to be alone anymore. Sheeni forgives Nick, and the two have slugs, finally achieving Nick's dream of losing his butt hair.

As the band began to play, some of the audience began fighting with Ice-T. Body Count escaped the crowd mid-song, and the promoter immediately shut the concert down.[1]

Outside the venue, angry audience members trashed the band's tour bus. The band hailed a taxicab, but its driver abandoned the cab when the mob surrounded the taxi, leading the promoter representing Body Count to steal the taxi in order to escape, abandoning it and their tour coats a mile away from the venue.[1] They hailed another cab, and the driver attempted to take them back to the venue until the band screamed at the driver to take them to the hotel.[1]

Italian film critic Marco Giusti writes that Rampling undresses as much as she can, but that it is Fabio Testi's physique that is imposing: Always naked and often framed at the height of his buttocks, it is causing the spectators some embarrassment.[1] Giusti perfectly remembers the sight of Testi's big hairy buttocks on the screen of the cinema Verdi in Genoa.[1]

One anonymous Oscar voter told The Hollywood Reporter that the film's Oscar campaign turned them off. "What bothered me ... was that instead of focusing on the fact that this was an entertaining little horror movie that made quite a bit of money, they started trying to suggest it had deeper meaning than it does, and, as far as I'm concerned, they played the race card, and that really turned me off. In fact, at one of the luncheons, the lead actor (Daniel Kaluuya), who is not from the United States (he's British), was giving us a lecture on racism in America and how black lives matter, and I thought, 'What does this have to do with Get Out? They're trying to make me think that if I don't vote for this movie, I'm a racist.' I was really offended. That sealed it for me."
