Yup. One of the Kaleidoscope guys (maybe even Darrow himself) said in Unterberger's Wayfaring Strangers that they felt CVB best carried their influence.

Okay, it’s official. Just got a text from my kid’s piano teacher about Jimmy Heath.

He cast a long shadow over here, first and foremost for running the Jazz performance program at Queens College for so many years, even for those of us who didn't go to that program.
