The plastic ones were a version of real charms to begin with. I have a '50s-style charm bracelet, my mom started them for us when we were little, and I'm still really jealous of hers, like the globe on a stand that's made of turquoise so it rly kind of looks like the earth, and it spins.

i guess that makes more sense.

horseshoe, Monday, 22 June 2009 20:13 (fourteen years ago) link

Yes, I like the vintage type ones. My mom also started one of those for me when I was little and has a cool one herself that also has a globe. It's this kind of thing I'm not too keen on, I guess:

The point of charms is to be commemorative, though. I have charms for major performances, recitals, certain years of my life, things that people gave me like a saint's medal (St Michael? no idea why) and odds and ends that remind me of people. I just found a 1950s-era New York subway token in a handbag in a secondhand store, and I'm going to put a silver link through it and add it to my charm bracelet to commemorate the last dozen years of my life, basically.

Oh, Tiffany's. Gross!

But not someone who should be dead anyway (Laurel), Monday, 22 June 2009 20:17 (fourteen years ago) link

Yes - I think mine has a saint's medal too. It also has little skis purchased in Colorado when I learned to ski, a heart for my 16th birthday and some others. I think the subway token is a great idea.

Guys I am watching the craft now because I bought the craft and wild things for 3.99 at ross when I was meant to buy housewares and anyway two things:
1) this soundtrack!
2) skeet ulrich! Poor man's Johnny Depp! Used to love him!

tehresa, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 06:23 (fourteen years ago) link

I just realized that skeet in this movie looks like the boy I had a srs crush on in 8th grade.

Hive mind at work: I was in wallgreens and that new nair was on sale and staring at me so I bought it.

tehresa, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 17:08 (fourteen years ago) link

hahaha i saw it this morning in kroger and picked up some extra. and i used it last night!!! i am so smooth

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 17:09 (fourteen years ago) link

Also btw, leg waxing hurts a lot more than bikini waxing but I've never done a full Brazilian or whatever so maybe that's not true.

tehresa, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 17:10 (fourteen years ago) link

i trust u heard enbb's tale

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 17:10 (fourteen years ago) link

I wish I could still afford leg waxing though, it's so much better than nair/shaving.

tehresa, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 17:12 (fourteen years ago) link

brazilian was pretty painful first time - and about the most embarrassed i've ever been - but really easy the 2nd time. gotta make sure you have a waxer who'll take it off in big patches so it's all over in 10mins, not someone who does tiny little patches and takes 90fuckinmins

where we turn sweet dreams into remarkable realities (just1n3), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 17:15 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah if you do end up having it done then I'd recommend you check to make sure that it's not carried out in a room with MIRRORED WALLS.

I'd definitely have a bikini wax done again (and have since) but not the full deal.

BTW - I bought the nair yesterday too. LOL.

☺☻☺☻come on ppl now smile on u brother☺☻☺☻ (ENBB), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 17:24 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh also - waxing that particular area yourself with one of the store bought kits is something I would definitely not recommend.

this is where we're talking about bras, i presume? i just bought one i love: strapless bras are usually not worth it in my experience, but this one is great.

horseshoe, Friday, 26 June 2009 21:06 (fourteen years ago) link

strapless bras never work for me

:(:(:(:(:(:(

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Friday, 26 June 2009 21:08 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, me neither. this one is supportive though and not padded and also comfortable. i feel evangelical about it.

horseshoe, Friday, 26 June 2009 21:10 (fourteen years ago) link

maybe i should check it out!!

how big are your boobs btw

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Friday, 26 June 2009 21:11 (fourteen years ago) link

if that is too personal just make up something outlandish

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Friday, 26 June 2009 21:11 (fourteen years ago) link

"96 J"

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Friday, 26 June 2009 21:12 (fourteen years ago) link

lol no it's fine i am a D cup sometimes DD. if you're bigger, i can imagine the supportiveness might crap out.

horseshoe, Friday, 26 June 2009 21:12 (fourteen years ago) link

also that ad copy is sort of exaggerate-y--it's definitely not an "exquisitely beautiful" bra, but it gets the job done.

horseshoe, Friday, 26 June 2009 21:14 (fourteen years ago) link

"exquisite stretch lace" LOL

finally i am an evangelist of something

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Friday, 26 June 2009 21:56 (fourteen years ago) link

I hate strapless bras but I sort of need one. I will check that one out. You guys have much bigger boobs than I do though. I'm only a b or very sm C depending on the bra. I have such a hard time finding bras that I think almost all the ones I own are the same make just in different colors/materials. If I can get away with not wearing them under whatever clothes I have on I do - that's how much I hate them.

☺☻☺☻come on ppl now smile on u brother☺☻☺☻ (ENBB), Friday, 26 June 2009 22:02 (fourteen years ago) link

im jealous, theres only one thing i can get away with not wearing a bra in - halter dresses

i love them for this reason

carpathian florist (roxymuzak), Friday, 26 June 2009 22:17 (fourteen years ago) link

I <3 halter dresses too just cause they're awesome.
