I think evol meant that the calculus for choosing a running mate is often based on what/where they represent not their qualifications, etc.

and by that calculus I think she's a good choice, even if the air of inevitability about it from some pundits is def kind of odd. But Abrams as VP with a mandate to focus on voting rights makes way more sense than imagining Warren wasting her final years in public life as Sanders' VP

Former 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Lincoln Chafee is taking another shot at the White House, this time as a member of the Libertarian Party.

Chafee, who switched party affiliation in June 2019, submitted his campaign paperwork to the FEC on Sunday. His website is stamped with the logo “Lincoln Chafee, Libertarian For President.”

I hope Abrams concentrates on voting rights work until she can run for governor again in 2022. Pundits have been talking about Georgia turning purple for a long time, but the only way I see that happening in the next few years is if she's at the top of the state ticket again.

Abrams' experience in state politics is deep but doesn't give her much of a story to tell about VP qualifications -- especially important for someone backing up an elderly presidential nominee.
