So just realized that almost every foreign language learning app is making use of these IVONA voices, with the notable exception of Language Drops. Which means that if you are learning, say, Russian, you will always hear either Maxim or Tatyana, whether you are using Duolingo, dict.cc or Clozemaster Pro, this latter with the appropriate settings.

Hm. dict.cc seems to have actual recordings as well and only uses the TTS when these aren’t there.

Okay, so it seems Amazon bought IVONA a while back and renamed it Polly (get it?) and the full list is here: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/polly/latest/dg/voicelist.html
