Horford just doesn’t make sense next to Embiid, the logic seemed to be making sure no other team had him
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, January 3, 2020 9:25 PM (thirty-five minutes ago)
i feel like ppl really gloss over the fact that their GM is an ex-NBA power forward with minimal front office experience. maybe him fucking up by spending the team's money on a center when he already has the best center in the NBA shouldn't be a huge surprise.

i think there was a theory of it where it could have worked but it sure hasn't worked to this point.
their dreadful bench is a good indicator of GM malpractice tho.

a horford-mccollum trade really makes a lot of sense doesn't it.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:16 (four years ago) link
feel like the mavs should call philly about horf tbh.

they cant offer anyone as good as CJ tho hmm
― peloton for the painfully alone (m bison), Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:23 (four years ago) link
all things considered i'd probably roll with maxi kleber
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:25 (four years ago) link
idk, horf is made for playoff basketball
― peloton for the painfully alone (m bison), Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:27 (four years ago) link
he is good in the offs but he's aging and that contract would probably mess up future cap space for them. also i think what the mavs really need is a someone on the wing with a lot of athleticism....that's where their team is lacking to me.

drummond shd go to some scrappy good defensive team that needs scoring, which is def not the hawks lol
xp mavs team is lacking a lot, luka is carrying that team, tho they have lots of outside shooting. and other than clippers and boston, doesnt every team need athletic wings?
horf back to boston makes so much sense but like *i* said philly wont do it bc pettiness
― peloton for the painfully alone (m bison), Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:35 (four years ago) link
philly needs to grow the fuck up!
― lag∞n, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:36 (four years ago) link
the rockets dispatching philly with minimal difficulty is not great if you are into the sixers
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:36 (four years ago) link
xp i think it's acute with the mavs, they have a lot of interesting parts and skilled guys and carlisle can fit them together, but their cap situation basically gives them one more big move to go with luka and zinger and if i'm them i'm holding out for a guy who is on the wing and is really going to fit with those two.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:38 (four years ago) link
yeah mavs getting good so fast is putting them in danger of ending up in no mans land
― lag∞n, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:42 (four years ago) link
and theyre making their role players work right now but really those guys arent that good
plus there's a decent chance porzingis doesn't play up to his contract which really puts some pressure on the next move.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:44 (four years ago) link
yeah, they dont have a lot of assets to flip. they already lost the 2019 pick getting luka. theyve got lots of good role player contracts, but that kristaps deal is pretty massive.
xp lol

― lag∞n, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:45 (four years ago) link
3 way trade, cj to phil, horf to mavs, thj and seth curry to port that kinda works
― peloton for the painfully alone (m bison), Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:48 (four years ago) link
mavs next have cap space in the 2021 offseason and how that gets used is hugely important to them.

portland should tank and dump cj's salary
― peloton for the painfully alone (m bison), Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:52 (four years ago) link
still think a simple horford for cj solves a lot of problems! horford can play next to nurkic and stabilizes the awful blazers forward rotation. cj would be nasty on the sixers and fix some of the probs with their rotation.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:54 (four years ago) link
idk horf is pretty solidly a center imo, like mb he cld make big time at the 4 work but youre not getting the most out of him
― lag∞n, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:57 (four years ago) link
true i'm taking into account the fact that he doesn't seem to want to play his best position for the stretch run of his career. he'd still be better than any forward the blazers have.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 4 January 2020 03:58 (four years ago) link
yeah that trade wld still be good for both teams
― lag∞n, Saturday, 4 January 2020 04:00 (four years ago) link

really tho ben simmons being useless in the halfcourt is what undermines everything

plenty of bullshit to go around, also they are awful on the road and v good at home
― peloton for the painfully alone (m bison), Saturday, 4 January 2020 04:07 (four years ago) link
you know whod be rly good on the sixers? jimmy butler
― peloton for the painfully alone (m bison), Saturday, 4 January 2020 04:08 (four years ago) link
lagoon otm. they play 3 centers not 2. i think embiid and horford could coexist with a more normal perimeter group but ben simmons is as set in his ways as ever.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 4 January 2020 04:08 (four years ago) link
feel like brett brown's on his last year
theyve got a ton of talent so they can win on any given night and prob really any given series i mean they came as close as you can to beating the eventual champs last year but they are also just unsound
tho their roster is much worst than last year so not sure if that really applies anymore
― lag∞n, Saturday, 4 January 2020 04:09 (four years ago) link
xp some of the playoff projections have sixers/bucks as a second-round matchup which would portend major changes for the team on the losing side.

if i had to guess brett brown is nothing special but he's literally never had a normal team so it's tough to say.

this may be true but simmons was already on the team, and there's no real argument for wanting horford over simmons longterm. so to whatever extent horford makes simmons' life harder it's an unforced error by the front office.
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 January 2020 06:20 (four years ago) link
shd also be said horf is gonna be 37 by the end of this contract and philly offered him more-longer than anyone
― lag∞n, Saturday, 4 January 2020 06:39 (four years ago) link
I would take McCollum for Horford in a heartbeat.
EmbiidHarrisRichardsonMcCollumSimmons
feels a lot better to me and adds a shot creator, which they don't really have. Though
starting to feel like the truth.
