it amuses me when people allow the outdated and often irrelevant album configuration to dictate the number of songs by one artist one may feel comfortable openly liking per year

i was gonna nom two dababy tracks but oops, looks like they were from the SAME ALBUM!! better choose a different track from his other one so my enjoyment can be properly balanced and in line with the ethos of this canon-building activity

(that's a joke btw, don't know what i'm nominating yet and for all i know all the dababy tracks i would nominate are already accounted for)

you clearly felt like taking it out

There's nothing wrong with liking lots of songs by one artist, but our polling system doesn't always work well with it.

weirdly/annoyingly the michael kiwanuka song i have nominated is split across two tracks on the digital version of the album as "hero (intro)" + "hero". but on the cd and vinyl versions it's one track ("hero") ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hmm...I don't think we've had this before. My instinct is to disqualify - almost our only strict eligibility rule is that if an album/track makes the Top 77 in one year it can't be nominated in following years, and our treatment of remixes supports treating them as "the same" as the originals. Unless there's some mitigating factor?

I'd say it should be case-by-case, as some remixes really are very different to the original track, and some totally blow up in their own right, but if it's just a case of changing up the BPM or putting a donk on it then disqualify.

if you want absolute coverage of your faves, isn't the best strategy to wait until the last minute, see what wasn't nominated, and then submit a list?
