i must have missed the announcement that this was a cup tie

éminence rose et jaune (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 December 2019 15:32 (four years ago) link

Wolves a bit rattled and niggly the last 5 minutes and as i'm typing it we get another Traore stopper from Dier

éminence rose et jaune (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 December 2019 15:36 (four years ago) link

Greenwood is going to be an absolute superstar

Number None, Sunday, 15 December 2019 15:37 (four years ago) link

Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 15 December 2019 15:55 (four years ago) link

éminence rose et jaune (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 December 2019 15:55 (four years ago) link

great game, maybe the best i've seen us play. all i want for Christmas is a goal poacher tbh

éminence rose et jaune (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 December 2019 15:56 (four years ago) link

very harsh, tho tbh the final ball from wolves all game didnt really hurt us as much as other teams have managed tbh

Banáná hÉireann (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 December 2019 15:58 (four years ago) link

yeah that energy came with a degree of headless chickenry at times, Jota, Raul and Traore all chose the wrong option on occasion

éminence rose et jaune (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 December 2019 16:00 (four years ago) link

postgame spring break at the beach is killing me

Banáná hÉireann (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 December 2019 17:06 (four years ago) link

a wondersave away from the sickest hat-trick in living memory

imago, Sunday, 15 December 2019 17:14 (four years ago) link

Arsenal have not lost a top flight home match by more than a three-goal margin since a 5-1 defeat against Wolves on 22 April 1961.

This is a pretty crazy statistic, especially for Arsenal given recent times.

Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 15 December 2019 17:33 (four years ago) link

Lads, how's this for a xmas surprise: Pards is most likely the new manager of ADO Den Haag (link). The ugliest side in the Eredivisie - all about stamina and rolling up sleeves, nice football we don't care for; sort of like West Ham on the pitch, and w/ Millwall Bushwackers as their audience - thought it wise to take on Pardew as their manager. For whatever reason.

Now I'm not saying this is a bigger failure or a more unthinkable appointment than Moyes at Sociedad, but it sure is promising!

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 16 December 2019 18:36 (four years ago) link

Dutch media say he'll be on the pitch as early as Sunday. If this happens, I feel obliged to start a 'Pards goes Dutch' thread to track the man, the myth.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 16 December 2019 18:37 (four years ago) link

looks like fun but i feel i shd point out that historically West Ham's fans thought of them as a footballing side, they've never wanted to be lumpen *on the pitch* which is why Big Sam wasn't embraced

éminence rose et jaune (Noodle Vague), Monday, 16 December 2019 18:39 (four years ago) link

Can we expect some of this from Pards though?

You are completely right to point that out. xp

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 16 December 2019 18:44 (four years ago) link

Lol Tom, I too am dying to find out how fast Pardew contracts the shh disease.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 16 December 2019 18:45 (four years ago) link

lbi Please make that thread

A stunning first half collapse by Liverpool at Villa Park

As good as they've been this season, it's difficult to see what the way back is for them now, as a club, as human beings

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:26 (four years ago) link

praying for a 4-2 here

imago, Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:27 (four years ago) link

Any other result and we'll be forced to reevaluate what the most embarrassing scoreline to win by is

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:28 (four years ago) link

Praying for a 9-0 here.

Soup on my lanyard (Tom D.), Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:29 (four years ago) link

Still think it bizarre they even have to play tonight tbh

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:33 (four years ago) link

I forgot it was the Caribou Cup and got excited for a second

a very powerful woman in the dog world (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:37 (four years ago) link

declare the result and mix teams imo, grealish and mcginn captains

imago, Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:38 (four years ago) link

Why? I don't necessarily think domestic fixtures should be jiggered around so one team can play in lucrative mid-season matches that are basically meaningless friendlies, like the world club cup and the champions lea

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:39 (four years ago) link

i'm just pleased that there's another team this aston villa has put four past (ignoring that norwich already managed this too)

imago, Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:40 (four years ago) link

now mix teams

imago, Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:41 (four years ago) link

Norwich almost conceded a Wesley hat trick, a different order of magnitude in the Shit You Don't Come Back From stakes imo

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 17 December 2019 20:43 (four years ago) link

I hear thee but they didn't sign up for this tbf, it comes with winning the CL. Rather it should be the other way around: they should've fielded the scouse babies in the desert, not at home imo.

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 17 December 2019 21:18 (four years ago) link

think the sponsors would probably have something to say about that

a very powerful woman in the dog world (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 17 December 2019 21:19 (four years ago) link

This is going to be a good quiz question later "who beat Liverpool 5-0 in the middle of their PL-winning season?"

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Tuesday, 17 December 2019 22:49 (four years ago) link

― Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, December 17, 2019 9:18 PM (yesterday) bookmarkflaglink

I agree but I imagine the club would get a serious financial rap on the knuckles from Fifa for fielding a team of youngsters for the mickey mouse shite in the desert

The World According To.... (Michael B), Wednesday, 18 December 2019 01:04 (four years ago) link

Rumors you love too see: Zlatan to Everton.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 18 December 2019 09:01 (four years ago) link

Funnily enough, last night was the 43rd anniversary of Villa 5-1 L'pool (5-1 at h/t) in the league. L'pool went on to be champs that season too.
