Already contacted the mental health service on Tuesday - only took me 5 months to get on with it. I thought about starting on the booze last night and then again this morning but I've stayed off, don't think i'd've been able to stop if I hadn't. I've ate a stupid amount of sweet stuff today tho :D
Hope you get as much help as you want.

Proud of you NV. We are here for you if that means anything. I’m doing the same.

Yes you are inspiring me Jim Be interesting to see some science on the sugar thing, I was totally unbothered by cake until I started quitting (and now I do both ffs)
― For how much longer do we tolerate trashed purdah? (wins), Friday, 13 December 2019 22:35 (four years ago) link
I don't know if there is actual science but it is rare I've heard someone quit drinking and NOT note the sugar cravings. I'm like you, wins. Subsided in intensity after a few months, but for a while there I was averaging a big cupcake and a big cookie and a big slice of cake every day!

Also kudos NV for contacting the service. I've almost asked about it but didn't want to seem the nag.
How’s it going NV?

ok really, haven't heard back from mental health service yet, brain function is definitely a bit clearer the last week or two, hard to say if that's a product of new meds or just the ebb and flow of mental health - it's always hard to work out what's what in my experience.
still struggling to go to sleep at night, just want to stay awake doing not much, playing games or puzzles or reading or just vegetating - even not posting on ILX i end up reading quietly more than i intend to - LOL THIS IS PROBABLY A VIRTUE
woke up this morning and couldn't wake up or get on with the stuff i really really need to get on with. pleasant time in the company of my children (and ex) tends to give me a backwash of regret and sadness afterwards which is just
i mean i'm still a marshmallowy passive blob of not wanting to do anything but sprinkled with increasing anxiety about money and debt and oh shit what am i gonna do to fix this and be able to still have a home and a life
impoverishment is going a way towards keeping me off the booze which is helpful even if for wrong reasons
clear-headed but mostly empty would be the short answer, dazed and unenthused would be the shorter one
but kind of ok until the next crisis

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adele_King
Adèle King (born Adèle Condron-King, 4 April 1951) is an Irish entertainer better known as Twink.
Twink's marriage ended after 21 years, in October 2004. In 2006, David Agnew (aged 45) had a baby with clarinetist Ruth Hickey (29). This prompted an infamous phone call from King (54) to ex-husband Agnew. She recorded a hostile message on his answering machine which appeared afterwards on the internet. The recording contained coarse and abusive language, such as "zip up your mickey" (Irish slang for penis), and Twink insulted Hickey and the newborn infant, repeatedly calling them "whore" and "your whore's bastard" respectively. King went on to threaten Agnew with denial of contact with his daughters if photographs of his new family appeared in public.
Twink described the Irish singer, Linda Martin, as a "cunt" during a tirade in May 2010. The two had been friends for 30 years but both said afterwards that they had no plans to speak to each other again.
In September 2014 it was widely reported across major Irish media outlets that Twink's dog, Teddy Bear, was kidnapped. Commenting on the events, Twink was quoted describing Linda Martin as being "a very powerful woman in the dog world" and that the kidnapping marked her own personal "Erin Brockovich moment". On 24 September Twink was reunited with her dog after a public tip-off led to the police arrest of a man in Dublin.

Oh you should see the Heaney doc Gyac, I thought it was brilliant. A pastoral portrait of the poet through the eyes of his wife and brothers. Slow poetry readings. Images of peat and bogs. How handsome he was! Winning doc imo, hope you recorded it.

I keep thinking about getting that HD reboot of the MGSes, our Joel loves them but I dunno if I'm patient enough. They look beautifully mad tho.
