on the other hand, trent reznor is very aware of torrents, etc. and priced the only release at $80
what would trent do?

I need a whole album of disco trent please!!
― Simon H., Thursday, 26 December 2019 15:35 (four years ago) link
i only have one other a capella to work with unfortunately: the beginning of the end. that’s work in progress but it’s in more of an ebm/industrial vein
― davey, Thursday, 26 December 2019 22:19 (four years ago) link
wonder if the instrumental release of the fragile is close enough to the one with vocals to extract out the vocal track
― babu frik fan account (mh), Thursday, 26 December 2019 23:04 (four years ago) link
I might be able to get the vocal stems from Year Zero, I think I have that disc floating around somewhere
― Simon H., Thursday, 26 December 2019 23:35 (four years ago) link
i will check out the fragile. some instrumental releases are subtly timestretched to make center channel cancellation fail.
Simon, if u can find stems, i'd love to have them. just email me; my address is in my profile. thanks y'all!
― davey, Thursday, 26 December 2019 23:45 (four years ago) link
It won’t be perfect, but I’ve had good results using this AI tool which creates stems from existing audio

wau! thank u simon. idk if i'm gonna be able to make more disco trent very soon—kinda want to work on some more original stuff—but receiving all these trent vocals puts a glimmer in my eye.

guessing the website is struggling with demand, as i get a 404 error when clicking on the link in the email

Listening to the supposedly noisier one now. I don't hear a vast difference between it and the quiet/pretty one.
If and when CD versions are made available, I will buy them, but mostly for completion's sake.

Locusts definitely more stressful and abrasive on a cursory listen. I turned it off after a few tracks, not in the headspace.
Listened to all of Together, on the other hand. Nice and moody, but I doubt I'll ever go back to it.

Both albums are on Spotify now, as well as still being on YouTube. I plan on listening on Spotify a few times and downloading when the servers are seeing less traffic.

I just soulseeked it
I've actually paid for stuff on Bandcamp and then downloaded it via soulseek cuz I didn't wanna deal with WinRAR. I am a profoundly lazy person.
― frogbs, Friday, 27 March 2020 18:36 (four years ago) link
The email they just sent has a direct link to a new download location. Sounds like they gave up
― mh, Friday, 27 March 2020 18:37 (four years ago) link
winrar? why are you using that for zip files?
good question! the only zip files I ever download are from bandcamp and WinRAR is just what I have installed

blimey - all these zip applications that i have not thought about in years now that W10 just deals with zips.re NiN : grabbed it via a wetransfer link posted on another board.

windows 10's support works ok as long as it's not a zip with a ton of files or high compression -- so, good enough for 90% of cases

― frogbs,
This reminds me how I pay for Prime but I torrent loads of stuff that's on Prime Video cos that's the only way I can figure out how to get it on my big telly.

are these better than the first 4 volumes? I dug those but haven't exactly been clamoring to break em out again
― frogbs, Wednesday, 1 April 2020 00:05 (four years ago) link
i love the og ghosts but these volumes are far more fleshed out and their own thing
― mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Wednesday, 1 April 2020 00:07 (four years ago) link
Together was kinda wallpaper-y to me but maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it. Haven't made it all the way through Locusts yet.
― but also fuck you (unperson), Wednesday, 1 April 2020 01:01 (four years ago) link
Locusts sounds a lot more soothing than Together to me (also agree it's one of the best things he's done). One of the tracks on Together has this really high frequency tone overlaid on top that's bad enough that I have to skip it.

I tend to play my music on album-shuffle, so I never quite know what I'm going to get. My wife was chilling on the sofa by the stereo speakers while I think something mellow like Can's "Soon Over Babaluma" was playing, but then things got a little quiet and I couldn't quite make out what had queued up next. I look at what's about to play on my phone and see it's "The Downward Spiral" about to blargh out, so I quickly hit skip. "That was a close one," I told her. "You almost got Nine Inch Nailed!"
