or maybe the point of sports isn't to determine which team is better. perhaps the point is to tell stories. stories about a catfish'd linebacker or a coach named Derbis that really likes jesus. or maybe a catfish'd linebacker who also really likes jesus. maybe this is the point of sports.

Alabama was not looking all the dominant this year before they lost Tua. LSU beat them very very easily. And let's not forget how badly Clemson beat Bama last year in title game. Fuck Saban.

i'm glad ND could actually get 11 wins, but at what cost: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5z9iv8

They're playing my alma mater in Orlando and I already hate ND with the fire of 1,000 suns

I like how that video extolling Ames, Iowa mentions its city water supply as one of its many fabulous local wonders. Twice! It also wants us to know that the weather is good in the springtime, without saying that spring is sandwiched in between a wretched winter and a torrid summer and only lasts about six weeks.

No argument here. Alabama was average this year, and there's not a Tua Tagovailoa or Jalen Hurts in the pipeline right now. We'll see how Tua's brother does, but I suspect the game plan will no longer revolve around a superman qb.

dandy, cyclones' chances have improved (not saying they weren't already good). chip long has left.

We have a good team this year and will be even better next year. But I don't see the Clones beating ND.

I can't wait to watch Saban run up the score on Ole Miss next year. He hates Kiffin as much as I hate ND.

From its inception to 2017, the game was sponsored by the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurant franchise and officially known as the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl.[8] After Restaurant Brands International acquired Popeyes in 2017, they declined to renew sponsorship. Elk Grove Village, Illinois — "home to the largest industrial park in the United States" — picked up the sponsorship in 2018, renaming the bowl as the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl.[9]

Clemson O-line is not winning consistently, but the OSU O-line has had consistent success.

Cojones in Motor Oil (Sufjan Grafton), Sunday, 29 December 2019 04:07 (four years ago) link

These two teams are pretty even. OSU has better athletes on defense.

Oklahoma could not beat Auburn, they looked slow as usual on defense by comparison to LSU.

I think that targeting penalty is a bit extreme. I could see that being the result on a second play by same player or maybe a total across a season, but it does seem a bit like 'get out of jail free' card in football and seems to make impact in a bunch of games.

earlnash, Sunday, 29 December 2019 04:10 (four years ago) link

headhunting used to be an integral part of the game, but permanent brain damage has long been an integral part of the game, too, so... which is more important in the long run: affecting game outcomes, or reducing the prevalence of traumatic brain injury?

It was dumb of the NCAA to schedule the championship game so late, right after divisional weekend, the most exciting weekend of NFL football

jamarr chase is just a sophomore, jeez. my chief rooting interest is for him to get to 300 yds.

washington state is apparently cutting players who signed *or retweeted* the pac-12 players list of demands. amazing

Am told multiple other #WSU players who shared the "#WeAreUnited" graphics have been released from the team, as well. https://t.co/OA0Hg3aroo
