Miami box score all kinda fun stuff. triple doubles by jimmy and bam and ~35 point games by Nunn and Robinson. Tyler herro goose egg

de-mamba mentality (Spottie), Wednesday, 11 December 2019 04:26 (four years ago) link

bam had several plays in that game where i feel like the only comparison in the current nba is giannis. just in terms of a guy that size taking the ball all the way down the floor with that kind of fluidity and finishing right at the rim. he was punishing alex len all game. and then he pulls off a rondo at the end on some jokic shit.

harden 40 point watch: 39.3

k3vin k., Saturday, 14 December 2019 11:48 (four years ago) link

if I ever get the time I’m going to make a graph of harden’s career numbers because the trends are kind of nuts: literally year after year he has extremely similar peripheral numbers - true shooting, assist percentage, rebound percentage, turnover percentage, etc, despite an ever increasing workload/usage. he’s just a machine

3 wins, of them good (against harden rockets!) and 2 of them kinda pitiful (fox-less kings, booker-less suns), loss against the cavs (woof)

the good news lonnie walker is good, the bad news he's like 9th in the rotation

nets made only 8 two-point shots. nba record in in shot clock era. 13/50 from three 21/78 overall. 26.9% shooting lol.

Devin Booker ranks 245th of 250 qualified players in 538's RAPTOR defensive metric. He ranks 430th of 447 for ESPN's Defensive RPM metric. The Suns are 11 points per-100 better defensively when he sits than when he plays.

Five straight years of this. Maybe it's just who he is?

— Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 28, 2019

Booker's DRPM rank for each year of his career:

18-19: 496th of 514
17-18: 502nd of 521
16-17: 451st of 468
15-16: 419th of 423

He has NEVER ranked outside the NBA's *bottom 20 players* in DRPM. Not once in five years, including this year. It's kinda amazing.

— Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 28, 2019

Booker's ranking in D-PIPM for each year in his career:

19-20: 468th of 472
18-19: 530th of 530 (dead last)
17-18: 513th of 540
16-17: 459th of 486
15-16: 455th of 476 https://t.co/td0kF8WNTq

peloton for the painfully alone (m bison), Thursday, 2 January 2020 03:55 (four years ago) link

i agree. it was a good time to be a center but looking back at his peak season stats will remind you that they were totally nuts. i think he would have been a compelling player in the modern game too.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 2 January 2020 03:57 (four years ago) link

oh i think his lack of passing or outside shooting would fuck him up in the modern game. the man never averaged more than 1.8 APG.

peloton for the painfully alone (m bison), Thursday, 2 January 2020 04:02 (four years ago) link

A bit of history for you. The Trail Blazers acquired Moses Malone in the ABA dispersal draft that happened when the NBA and ABA merged. However, the Blazers already had Bill Walton at center and had just acquired Maurice Lucas, too, so they traded Malone away at once for money and a 1st round pick.

The next season (1976-77) the Trail Blazers won the NBA championship, largely on the strength of the players they picked up in the dispersal draft. Nobody missed Moses Malone... until Walton got hurt in 1978, and the Blazers had no decent backup center, and they didn't get back to the Finals for another 13 years.

well i'm imagining he'd get modern coaching too. he was a more than respectable free throw shooter and i bet he could have done a little more passing.

if the lopez bros can learn to shoot threes this far into their career i figure moses malone coulda figured it out over a couple summers
