wow, longwave. i remember really liking the strangest things when it was current but i don't remember anything whatsoever about what it sounds like at this point. seem to recall a really great b-side from that first album called 'here it comes.' they were kind of primary colours-era horrors before the horrors got there, weren't they?

all I remember about that band (and I saw them once too, I think they maybe even opened for the one interpol show I saw?) was that it was rumored he was a rich kid with a dad in the music industry and that was the only explanation for the album coming out. but surprised to see he's still at it; persistence is worth something.

and also I think that rumor was false

Longwave are a good band but not an exceptional one. I like Steve Schiltz's voice and the music is interesting and never just straight ahead indie rock. But they lack deep hooks - I loved them most around '02. They're not a regular play in my world but I dig them when I feel that particular itch.

Thread revive has set me off to listen to 'The Strangest Things' - I never heard anything else they did.

Was besotted with "Wake Me When It's Over" at the time.

i remember thinking all of his lyrics were pretty unremarkable, but that he did have an ear for some really pleasant chord progressions.

i was also very into red hot chili peppers by the way at the time and thought that they had a lot in common.

Tidal Wave is a great song and a totally underrated 00’s Indie Rock track,
