are there any potential consequences for >50% of the national tv games this year being unwatchable

delightful sequence at the end of wolves/jazz had joe ingles pathetically trying to get fouled on like 5 consecutive pump fakes from behind the line and the refs not entertaining any of them.

The Marvin Bagley draft choice may go down in history with Sam bowie

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 04:55 (four years ago) link

A healthy Sam Bowie should have been a respectable lottery pick, but more like number 4 through 6 instead of number 2. The game back then was built more around big centers on the low block. A few years later the Drexler-Porter-Kersey Blazers still made the NBA Finals with Kevin Duckworth at center, but Bowie could have filled that starting center spot equally well. Bowie's body just couldn't hack it, but the talent was there.

end of this clips-thunder game is great

What I like about harden is that he cares about the regular season.

What I like about Harden is he gives me something to truly loathe. Makes me feel alive.

He was never gonna be as good as Barkley or Jordan. There’s always reasons why people do the wrong thing.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 15:16 (four years ago) link

iirc that was another case of we already have a guy like that

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 15:44 (four years ago) link

Right they needed a center. And as bobby knight famously told them “play Jordan at center”

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 15:52 (four years ago) link

lol

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 15:52 (four years ago) link

Sources: After passing his physical exam, Carmelo Anthony signed his one-year, non-guaranteed deal with Portland today. It will be worth $2.15M should he remain on roster past guarantee date in January.

seems like melo and the media are talking this up a little too much. shoulda just slid under the radar so when he gets cut its not a big deal

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 16:45 (four years ago) link

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 16:45 (four years ago) link

Remember that guy on twitter who said melo was a top 10 player in 2018

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 16:53 (four years ago) link

he still thinks he's a top nba player. feel like this will be his last shot and then he goes overseas (or just enjoys the nearly 300+ million hes made thus far)

de-mamba mentality (Spottie), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 16:55 (four years ago) link

haha who said that xp?

What I like about harden is that he cares about the regular season.

cares about winning reg season games or about getting reg season stats?

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 16:59 (four years ago) link

both

de-mamba mentality (Spottie), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:03 (four years ago) link

i just find it kinda fun that he plays every game and tries to put up insane numbers. i dont much like it in the basketball aesthetic sense cos i dont care for his style of play... and obv he hasnt gotten it to work all the way to a championship. But we are in a time when the reg season means less and less every year and he is still out there suiting up and dropping 40/10/10 on the regular. and as a junky who loves to watch regular season games, i appreciate it. one of the worst things to happen to the nba on many levels was the warriors going 73-9 and not winning the chip. they got clowned and now the regular season means even less. that season was so fun because they were trying to win every game like it was a playoff game., and everyone wanted to take them down.

de-mamba mentality (Spottie), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:11 (four years ago) link

how have I never heard this story!

mike dan tony (Clay), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:15 (four years ago) link

Everyone is acting like the regular season doesn’t matter but I feel like in the western conference it’s never mattered more

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:27 (four years ago) link

Knight said MJ was best basketball player he'd ever seen before MJ even played an NBA game

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:36 (four years ago) link

yes it matters but the teams at the top are more concerned with being right for the playoffs.

like kawhi is still gonna sit a bunch of games. jokic came in 30lbs overweight and checked out. all the load management headlines dominating is a bad look for casuals. dubs for the last two seasons basically saying out loud it doesnt matter. ratings are WAY down this year.

since russ got the mvp, regular season real greatness means less. numbers are inflated.

hello clay its me your friend carmelo the hat man

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:36 (four years ago) link

yeah otm league gotta do something to shape up the regular season xp

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:38 (four years ago) link

go down to 58 games and stop calling quite so many fouls imo

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:40 (four years ago) link

+widen the court/move the 3pt line out

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:41 (four years ago) link

eliminate back to backs would be huge. you could do that and trim the season by like less than 10 games.

de-mamba mentality (Spottie), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:45 (four years ago) link

im not really sure what the number is to make each game count its prob lower than 58 but yeah eliminating back2backs wld be huge

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:50 (four years ago) link

also, just a thought but maybe the refs should call the game the same for regular season and playoffs.

de-mamba mentality (Spottie), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:53 (four years ago) link

fill the balls with sand and call every instance of travelling

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:56 (four years ago) link

No running allowed in 1st halfs

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:56 (four years ago) link

on one hand regular season reffing has gotten too tight imo but on the other its allowed the little guys to thrive so im torn, obvs james harden has scientifically exploited the situation

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 17:56 (four years ago) link

I’ve decided Kawhi really does have something weird in his knees and can’t play 70 games even if he wanted to

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 18:06 (four years ago) link

chronic tendinitis

lag∞n, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 18:07 (four years ago) link

And yeah Jokic has been weird for the first 12 games but if they were 6-6 instead of 9-3 it would be a crisis

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 18:07 (four years ago) link

That’s what’s made it so fun to watch him win those games with big 4th quarters

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 18:08 (four years ago) link
