the bean boots? xp

I just bought some timberland waterproof hikers for the purpose of doubling as actual hiking boots and snow boots. They're pretty lightweight and comfortable, maybe not as stylish as Sorels though.

i wear bean boots and thick socks during winter nyc commutes, never had a problem.

i have some heavier duty lacrosse duck boots but yeah the bean boots sound like they fit yr criteria

I had a pair of waterproof hiking boots that I also used as snow boots for like 8-9 years. The last pair of snow boots I bought were north face -- I was forced to buy them last minute as a blizzard came into town -- and they were garbage and only lasted me a season.

hiking boots are so short tho what do u do when theres more than like 4 inches of snow xp

I guess I'm not really doing a lot of hardcore trekking around in the snow, hasn't been a problem. Jeans and thick socks.

I've never owned proper snow boots and basically wear doc martens (or older knee high boots, am not a man) when it snows in NYC, even to shovel.

the cool thing abt having a big rugged pair of boots is u can just walk whereever u want without worrying about it, like those huge icey puddles at intersections in ny u just power through them

Man that reminds me I bought those stupid ugly totes rubbers that go over your shoes a few years ago bc I have to wear dress shoes sometimes for work and I NEVER could bring myself to put them on.

honestly now that I drive to work 99% of the time though I barely need any weather gear at all, I could probably just roll into the parking garage in flip flops and a tee, would only be cold for 20 seconds.

my mom really likes her low cut bean boots for going outside to get the mail in the winter

i love bean boots but would not be enthused with wearing them in an office all day tbh...footwear that transitions seamlessly from harsh winter conditions to indoor environments is probably a gap in menswear historically. there's a reason that overshoes and rubbers were commonplace for decades and also a reason why ugly-ass technical hiking boots have been acceptable daily wear in many contexts.

something like this allen-edmonds weatherproof boot will look great all winter but is still going to require daily care for salt damage which most ppl do not want to do.

I've got some of those North Face slippers in red and they look like boxing gloves for my feet. unfortunately they aren't at all waterproof so I can't even mop the kitchen floor without getting wet soles

i love the Vans SK8-Hi Del Pato MTE for a sneaker boot im sure ive mention them before here, theyll get u through a lil snow but are obvs only ankle high, def my most worn "boots"

ha, I have 3 pairs of docs (regular 8 hole? boots, chelseas and oxfords) and I made sure they don't have the yellow stitching.

my hiking and running shoes are merrells (my feet suck and they are so comfy) and they seem to have normal looking winter boots. The only time my docs are annoying in the rain or snow is around the laces if I am out for more than 20-30 minutes in heavy snow.

u can just color it in w a marker, but on the other hand that is iconic yellow stitching
