That here in the New World, when scheduling something, nine times out of ten, I have to type '2' and then 'tab' and then 'tab' again and then 'PM' instead of just '14' and 'return'.

All of our modern appliances, from dishwasher to dryer to the car, have these hyper sensitive fail-safe alerts that are far more intrusive than actual failures. I waste so much time figuring out why a light is on, or a warning has activated, or something has automatically shut off, and it's never for the reason those alerts exist.

OK, I don't know if this is irrational, but it does make me annoyed. We have two places for guests to stay: the second floor, where they get a bedroom across from my kids bathroom, and the (finished) basement, where they get a bedroom across from a full bath all to themselves. When my mom visits she prefers the basement, where she's right by her own bathroom. But my in-laws, they insist on staying upstairs with everyone else and clomping down two floors to the basement to use that bathroom/shower. Fine, it's their knees. Except my wife's stepdad insists on using the powder room by the kitchen on the 1st floor, right by where the family is often hanging/cooking/reading, and he's as loud as a particularly flatulent elephant. Just go down one more floor to the basement and shit in peace and privacy, dude! No need to constantly share the news with us.

There is this couple I often see with a huge American Pitbull Terrier called Bud. He's an adorable dog but they are a set of arseholes. She pissed me off the other night complaining that my led head-lamp was blinding her, and this was out in the middle of nowhere without any public lighting. I was thinking: much better when people creep about in the dark and you can't even see them fucking coming or you trip up in the dark and break your ankle (again). My dog is a creature of routine and always stops at the same point to go back on the lead and he gets a biscuit as a reward. One day he didn't do it cos Bud was there and he was eager to see him. All I said to her husband was: " ah so that was why he went bounding forwards, to play with Bud, he usually waits for me". And he replied showing his horrible yellow teeth and with a smug look " you mean as opposed to him bounding backwards". I've never felt such violent urges in my life. I wanted to beat his stupid head to a fucking pulp and I keep rewinding that moment and coming out with a withering putdown/witty repartee rather than just him the murder stare. But they obviously hate me as well and I suppose most human interactions that go wrong are very irrational!

I had to ask a bunch of grown adults to kindly take their shit out of the washing machine/dryer when it's done.

These three roommates moved in when I was out of the country. They do laundry seemingly every day, and they leave their shit in either machine for hours, sometimes even overnight. I have had only one laundry day where I didn't physically move their stuff from the machine.

Is it really that hard? If you don't wanna fold the shit, well...move it to your room and do it when you can. Clearly ya don't give a shit about wrinkles!

This exact same thing comes up in my apt building and leaves me flabbergasted every time. How do you leave your wet clothes in the washer OVERNIGHT to the point that they exude the odor of MILDEW?? I mean, you're going to have to wash them again now, right? When do you finally realize you're just not doing laundry right?

Also I'll find the dryer ridiculously overstuffed with partially dry clothes - such a quantity that any fool should see would take hours and hours to fully dry... or you know, you could just dry a regular sized load in a regular amount of time.

then apparently my neighbor is leaving her wet clothes in there longer than one day, which makes her even crazier

front load machines smell/get mildew really fast if there is moisture left in them for hours. I also have had past roommates get into an endless cycle of rewashing the same load because they kept forgetting.

Re: Google Maps/Waze - there are some pretty bad directions given in those apps. But that said, you could still look at the map and figure it out yourself.
