I can't remember much about these, except that they were playing in a waiting room and I was bored enough to be curious about their seemingly designed-to-be-ignorable playlist:

Wild Rivers - Speak Too Soon
Imaginary Future & Kina Grannis - I Will Spend My Whole Life Loving You
The Head and the Heart - People Need a Melody

I have no recollection of that Shaun song but listening again and it's apparently a k-pop song with that retro faux-cha cha 8 bit thing... kind of like Dram's Cha Cha or Drake's Hotline Bling. I love that particular kind of sound. I guess it would've gotten stale fast if it had become a bigger trend.

Does Shazam have geolocation to tell you where exactly you heard a song? I don't really frequent places that play k-pop in mexico. I don't even know any that do... probably heard it in a clothing store.

xps
"That waka waka vomit song?"
yeah! through blunt repetition I've learned to love it!

Seeing my kid love it so much, I have grown to like it too. Lol

the last one I can remember was Michael Brun & Kah-Lo - Spice

The World According To.... (Michael B), Saturday, 2 November 2019 16:29 (four years ago) link

for me these are

1. j balvin & bad bunny - la canción
2. paula abdul - forever your girl
3. cigarettes after sex - falling in love

situations being

1. at mexican restaurant for (former) cow*rker's goodbye gathering. i knew *of* the song before due to being aware of the j balvin/bad bunny album but hadn't actually heard it -- really liked it a lot.
2. one of the lousy classic hits stations in my city is finally starting to work more material into its dusty playlist. i was pleasantly surprised to hear it play another paula abdul song besides "straight up" (very rarely they'll also do "opposites attract") but didn't remember which song it was. (i was at w*rk where radio is our only allowed option for music.)
3. this was playing on the noncommercial/community station. actually enjoyed it + promptly posted about it on ilm after lol

1. The Stroppies - Cellophane Car (heard this on Basque radio, and it's such a huge Stereolab rip-off I had to know who and what it was)
2. Elissa - Ya Merayti (used under some documentary I believe)
3. Townes van Zandt - Nothin' (MOR radio)

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 4 November 2019 11:33 (four years ago) link

1. Galantis - “No Money”
2. Peter and Gordon - “A World Without Love”
3. The Ritchie Family - “The Best Disco in Town”
