Hmmm. Beyond the 'lol Spin' factor, it's Paranoid for me.

I like Machine Head but it just makes me want to reach for Live in Japan.

Badmotorfinger over Superunknown? Is that canon now?

Rubbish list tbh

It was 2002, they tried their best

Even for 2002 it was a terrible list though.

i can't tell if the original spin list was a troll. Can't think of any other reason solo DLR made this list.
(also, 1984 shouldn't even be on the list of top 40 Van Halen albums)

I am so goddamn angry rn

When I am afraid, I put my toast in you (Neanderthal), Thursday, 31 October 2019 14:44 (four years ago) link

It doesn't seem like trolling to me? These are mostly canonical hard rock albums.

I think they were just trying to one-up that 2008 Rolling Stone list of the best vocalists that made the rounds on Twitter last week.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

hehe Appetite For Destruction, that’s some Grade A trolling. I’m not sure that’s even the best 1987 record by a hair band, with Whitesnake, Permanent Vacation and Hysteria as competition.

Whitesnake, Permanent Vacation and Hysteria

All three of those albums are trash, and I actually like Whitesnake more than a lot of people. But their hair metal move was cynical and watered-down compared to Slide It In.

I love Appetite but it's as metal as my dick

note to self, after drinking whiskey all night, don't visit ILX

There with the dick metal again!

imago, Wednesday, 6 November 2019 14:58 (four years ago) link

yeah very unfortunate word pairing there

Jordan Pickford LOLverdrive (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 6 November 2019 15:01 (four years ago) link

this list is very bad

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 6 November 2019 22:21 (four years ago) link

I mean even for 2002 it's remarkable how many major subgenre canonical albums are missing. No Venom, no Earth, no Sleep, no St. Vitus, no Death, no Morbid Angel, way too heavy on the 80s pop metal axis and also GnR fucking suck and have always sucked and are about as metal as Rod Stewart.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.
