the guy seems to be at his best when collaborating with someone else...

ok? his workshop releases by himself are all solid gold secret weapons. his dj-ing by himself can be stellar although arguably that's a collaboration with a crowd. i think it's more accurate to say he likes to collaborate and that energy is audible on record.

in any case tuomas you're on record yourself, extensively, about the namlook collaborations elsewhere. i wanted this thread to cover more of his solo work, and his djing. which, i've only heard recordings of his sets and would love to see him one day. curious if anyone here has had the chance and what it was like.

i only have original cd edition of Kunststoff which was released in 95, so this fella is clearly not a young'un now.
so, i am chuffed he is getting some love.
have to admit at the time i was not overly into this cd when i picked it up.
have tried it several times over the years (especially when it got a much loved reissue a few years back).
i seem to recall it's a lovely listen , so will try again following this nudge.

(only other thing i have is Koolfang which is a non allowed FAX release - needless to say it was that connection that prompted me to pick up Kunststoff)

oh, and Wiki says he is older than me (53).
don't get me wrong i love old(er) people making techno/electronica.
it's definitely becoming a thing as we move into a new era as original rave era music makers continue their journey
eg see kompakt and the recent thomas fehlmann solo material (i loved 'los lagos').
it's the fact that there are new threads declaring love for new material that's a welcome surprise.

from bits and bobs i've seen online he seems to have a saltiness to his personality which i can appreciate

i have absolutely no idea re his life/world, and to be honest, i think thats often the best way.

He's probably the most memorable presence in Romuald Karmakar's If I Think of Germany at Night? Though maybe he was just shot when he was really high.

four weeks pass...

still in love with building bridges though some of the jammier bits are just a little too opaque to really click with me. "cycles" is so much fun, such a smile-bringer.
