it will be tough for them to make the playoffs

J0rdan S., Monday, 28 October 2019 07:25 (four years ago) link

there's still only 7 teams in the west i'd say are definitively better than them (nuggets, rockets, clippers, lakers, blazers, jazz, spurs) but you could arguably count dallas at this point. the margins are very thin.

J0rdan S., Monday, 28 October 2019 07:29 (four years ago) link

the zion injury probably eliminated one challenger at least

J0rdan S., Monday, 28 October 2019 07:30 (four years ago) link

I don’t think the warriors can do it unless WCS really works which I do think is possible

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 14:31 (four years ago) link

i'm bullish on dallas as per my prediction post

ciderpress, Monday, 28 October 2019 14:32 (four years ago) link

kings are also maybe capable of doing stuff

ciderpress, Monday, 28 October 2019 14:34 (four years ago) link

Idk what’s going on with the Kings, expected a strong start from them

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 14:37 (four years ago) link

One of the exciting things about this season is how it feels like the games already matter given how close the West was last year

yeah they look nice, luka-zinger is some sort of euro fever dream

lag∞n, Monday, 28 October 2019 15:36 (four years ago) link

I would still be pretty surprised if Porzingis makes it through the season without some major injury

(•̪●) (carne asada), Monday, 28 October 2019 15:40 (four years ago) link

Porzingis looks unguardable, especially when they post him up at the baseline. That’s what they should be going with in clutch situations imo (especially if the other option is Doncic iso stepbacks)

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 15:41 (four years ago) link

Porzingis growing another inch since his rookie year is really surreal to see

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 15:42 (four years ago) link

will be surprised and elated if zing makes it to the allstar break unscathed; i imagine teams are going to start violently bodying him from now on

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Monday, 28 October 2019 15:55 (four years ago) link

nba blitz

ciderpress, Monday, 28 October 2019 15:57 (four years ago) link

not sure if theres any point to it or even if its a good idea but zinger shooting a step back 3 is just completely uncontestable

lag∞n, Monday, 28 October 2019 16:03 (four years ago) link

he also hit one from ~35ft yesterday

lol no one —violently bodies— in the nba anymore

lag∞n, Monday, 28 October 2019 16:16 (four years ago) link

but yeah zinger will prob not last long due too being too tall

lag∞n, Monday, 28 October 2019 16:21 (four years ago) link

Jumping up and down repeatedly is the wear and tear for zinger

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 16:21 (four years ago) link

pretty much any player who's been in the nba for 3 seasons can handle the physicality of the game, i always think that point is overplayed (i.e. when ppl used to say you just need to knock steph curry down)

J0rdan S., Monday, 28 October 2019 16:24 (four years ago) link

one thing abt physical play is its really tiring, harden steph et al being able to take one million step back 3s in a game while remaining fresh is a direct result of the league mandated tightening officiating, theyve gone a lil too far imo harden shdnt be allowed to do that shit

lag∞n, Monday, 28 October 2019 16:28 (four years ago) link

Physical play means bruises and stuff which doesn’t knock anyone other than anthony davis out of games

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 16:32 (four years ago) link

― Matt Armstrong, Monday, October 28, 2019 9:21 AM (ten minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

zinger should learn from tacko and just never leave his feet

de-mamba mentality (Spottie), Monday, 28 October 2019 16:33 (four years ago) link

jumping is for nerds

lag∞n, Monday, 28 October 2019 16:37 (four years ago) link

physicality matters in terms of post defense and in terms of guys who try to drive to the basket using strength not quickness but those are more about effectiveness than injury risk/wear and tear.

call all destroyer, Monday, 28 October 2019 16:56 (four years ago) link

i always think that point is overplayed (i.e. when ppl used to say you just need to knock steph curry down)

zing is a foot taller than steph and not a pure gimme free throw shooter; i could see a frustrated team getting him injured semi-ad/inadvertently
regardless "Jumping up and down repeatedly is the wear and tear for zinger" otm

another guy the heat pulled off scrap heap who looks like a legitimate NBA player. and being a legit wing makes it pretty interesting. w/ butler out and dragic coming off the bench they've been running a lot of offense thru him at the starts of games.

btw he was given a partial guarantee as an UDFA by the warriors, ended up on their d league team and was cut @mattarmstrong

J0rdan S., Monday, 28 October 2019 18:12 (four years ago) link

One of the most intriguing stories of the first week.

Miami's Kendrick Nunn (first 2 games):

21.0 ppg in 27.5 minutes per game
eFG%: 55.7

Undrafted 24 year-old SG, looks like he belongs in the NBA! pic.twitter.com/EKcxV1737H

before the 25 last night

J0rdan S., Monday, 28 October 2019 18:15 (four years ago) link

They were too busy to develop him

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 18:29 (four years ago) link

Busy offseason for them

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 18:29 (four years ago) link

they developed him on the santa cruz warriors for a full season then just let him go

de-mamba mentality (Spottie), Monday, 28 October 2019 18:30 (four years ago) link

they were at the beach with klay and rocco

he was plead guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge against a woman so idk that may have had something to do with it?

Heat have found a lot of value with those guys

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 18:33 (four years ago) link

The Jail Blazers had some pretty decent W/L records.

A is for (Aimless), Monday, 28 October 2019 18:37 (four years ago) link

The DV incident was before the warriors got interested in him so maybe they were just too focused on Smailagic

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 18:37 (four years ago) link

only the heat actually seem to have a successful record of finding and developing these guys.

call all destroyer, Monday, 28 October 2019 18:55 (four years ago) link

Finding and developing guys with DV incidents? Yeah I guess. James Johnson was more of a finished product

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 October 2019 18:57 (four years ago) link

The Lakers canceled today’s practice. The team came in this morning for one of Rob Pelinka’s “Genius Talks.” Today’s guest: David Blaine. After his talk, Frank Vogel brought team together and, following a nice win over Charlotte, gave them the rest of the day off.

(•̪●) (carne asada), Monday, 28 October 2019 20:26 (four years ago) link

A win over Charlotte kinda already is a day off.
