The cover looks like Veronica Mars combined with Leatherface

well this was a ball!I really enjoyed watching it but also had this weird feeling of unease a lot of the time. Maybe it was Logan's 'keeping in the anger' or maybe it was all the adult dialogue which sat oddly at first (I can't remember if the movie was like that), or maybe I couldn't quite get a feel for some of the characters? idk.

trying to do a rewatch and made it through s2 fine but s3 really feels like work. I hate Piz !

I figure after Piz’s Pitchfork internship fell through he probably became a bitter ilxor

piz is too ridiculous a creation for me to hate
― mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Sunday, 13 September 2020 15:15 (three years ago) link
or maybe not ridiculous in and of himself so much as i think it's ridiculous that someone wrote him and put him in a show
the kiss scene between piz and veronica is all time, despite his shortcomings
― mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Sunday, 13 September 2020 15:19 (three years ago) link
Piz is named after one of the show’s directors iirc.
found myself unexpectedly rooting for Piz in the VM movie though! He was nice and clean and cute there compared to the still volatile Logan.
― Roz, Sunday, 13 September 2020 15:50 (three years ago) link
I barely remember Piz tbh. Was s3 the one with the Stanford Prison Experiment storyline?
― The nexus of the crisis and the origin of storms (Sund4r), Sunday, 13 September 2020 15:53 (three years ago) link
yes! featuring rider strong

Yep lol. Season 3 was a chore tbf, way too many subplots and new characters no one cared about.
― Roz, Sunday, 13 September 2020 15:57 (three years ago) link
i remember preferring the third season to the second
i think 1 >>>> 4 > 3 > 2
― Chuck_Tatum, Sunday, 13 September 2020 16:13 (three years ago) link
i can't hate piz when he's so great in glee
― Chuck_Tatum, Sunday, 13 September 2020 16:14 (three years ago) link
i mean, er, glow
iirc 2 mainly suffers from the long format season, so much filler and the stakes just go up and up and up until it's even more ridiculous than usual

I would still take it over 3 tho
all relationships on this show dwarfed completely by veronica and keith's. although i am fond of veronica/wallace early seasons friendship.

“They would all be eight-episode mysteries,” Thomas said about his vision for future seasons. “For Season 5 the ideas I have been noodling with have all been kind of Agatha Christie in that Murder In the Manor House sort of idea.
In my head this became Knives Out

Logan is so f-ing tortured and hot in the movie. You can't blame her for throwing over bland NY guy even while your higher brain is going "NNNNOOOOOOO!" as she caroms right off a cliff.

I liked season 4's exploration of that aspect of the Veronica/Logan dynamic

yeah that was my favorite part of the whole season, novel and thoughtful

Liz works for Ira Glass in the movie, right? He’s not even living in the same universe as Veronica
― mh, Sunday, 13 September 2020 19:46 (three years ago) link
I haven’t seen 4 yet. But I loved s2, flawed as it may be. S3 tho... the feminists vs comedians stuff ... the dean who Veronica has to charm... that I’m supposed to care if piz gets a radio show... the weird Stanford prison thing ... the only good plot so far (I’m just a few eps in) is Keith at the cabin (RIP Kendall)
― ILX’s bad boy (D-40), Sunday, 13 September 2020 21:24 (three years ago) link
Also piz in the movie might as well be a plot device designed to irritate Veronica who clearly is better off w Logan chemistry
― ILX’s bad boy (D-40), Sunday, 13 September 2020 21:25 (three years ago) link
just now noticed my autocorrect issue. Liz was obviously meant to be Piz

S3 ended strong
S4 was A+ but that ending ... :( X infinity
― ILX’s bad boy (D-40), Friday, 18 September 2020 14:17 (three years ago) link
I kinda admire Rob Thomas for the honesty of directly admitting that he mainly killed off Logan cause he had no concept of how VM could be a continuing, interesting story if Veronica is happy/content
― Simon H., Friday, 18 September 2020 15:30 (three years ago) link
Unfortunately he seems to have misjudged interest—Are we getting a season 5? Man reviews of s4 were way more scathing than i realized
― ILX’s bad boy (D-40), Friday, 18 September 2020 19:05 (three years ago) link
I though it was pretty good! Surprised so many people care about logan anyway, it’s not like he blew up Keith

So we have been rewatching Veronica Mars sporadically as it's been on a channel here. Finally got around to re-watching the movie a couple of weeks ago.Got a Lionsgate trial subscription to watch Party Down, and a ton of Mars Universe actors pop up in that, including Keith Mars.
The past few days, we decided to watch Contagion - thought it might be 'fun' after the pandemic. Anyway, Keith Mars again pops up in it, kinda weird.
Before ditching Lionsgate, thought we might as well watch Station Eleven (not yet convinced that was a good idea, not least right after Contagion). Anyway! Guess who rides up on a bike in that? Keith Mars again.I'm not complaining, I like seeing him. It's just a bit like he's following us about.

I revisited high school romance comedy Drive Me Crazy, which I hadn't realized (but have now learned) was scripted by Rob Thomas. When it came out in November 1999, it was third in a series of similarly themed flicks that year – after She's All That and 10 Things I Hate About You – and while it's less flashy than those two, it has a certain low-key appeal and degree of "realism" that generate particular interest. The dialogue is a step above, and there are certain character beats that reflect Thomas's skill & sensibilities. Cool soundtrack, too...
