I took a look at the first Jaimes strip collection at the bookstore and was disappointed that 1) it’s in color 2) it looks like it has JPEG artifacts or some such poor reproduction. No sale.

is it running in B&W anywhere at all? she seems to be drawing it in/for colour, would assume a B&W book would require someone spotting every single strip

Iirc, Jaimes draws and colors the strips on an iPad. It also seems like any papers still running daily strips run them in color (the last time I looked at the Houston paper--admittedly awhile ago--they were cut down from two b&w pages to the color back page of the culture/style section).

I haven’t clapped eyes on a daily comics page in aeons but I assumed they were still black and white

Guess I also assumed that the color strips were produced in the traditional way where the artist hands in a black and white version and some hack at the syndicate does colors.
