That was the best case scenario for the Yankees -- good start by Paxton, hardly any pitches thrown by the relievers, made the Astros' offense look bad.

This series officially has me worried now about a possible Yankees win.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Saturday, 19 October 2019 02:15 (four years ago) link

psh, y'all are talking about momentum

you think the astros wouldn't have been pleased to know they'd have six and seven at home up 3-2?

mookieproof, Saturday, 19 October 2019 02:20 (four years ago) link

I don't believe in momentum in these games

Houston came into tonight's game w/ plenty of it

The Ravishing of ROFL Stein (Hadrian VIII), Saturday, 19 October 2019 02:29 (four years ago) link

sort of expected to be down 3-2 going back down there

The Ravishing of ROFL Stein (Hadrian VIII), Saturday, 19 October 2019 02:30 (four years ago) link

Hinch, don't you dare fucking "save" Cole for a Game 7...

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 19 October 2019 08:25 (four years ago) link

He will. I smell a fucking disaster.

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 19 October 2019 09:03 (four years ago) link

you spelled party wrong

The Ravishing of ROFL Stein (Hadrian VIII), Saturday, 19 October 2019 11:57 (four years ago) link

Starting G6 on short rest is inviting disaster though. The Astros have a solid, rested bullpen for G6 and Cole on full rest in G7 -- I can't really argue with that.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Saturday, 19 October 2019 12:58 (four years ago) link

Starting pitchers are still listed as TBD on MLB's site (by the way, I like CCR better than BTO)...I thought after the delay Cole would be on full rest tonight.

clemenza, Saturday, 19 October 2019 15:33 (four years ago) link

While starters (or "openers") haven't been announced for tonight, the managers indicated last night that a G7 wd be Cole vs Severino.

Future Yogi Berra: in an interview with Hazel Mae, Josh Reddick said the thing that links all his postseason teams is that they "didn't know when to stop quitting."

may I suggest 2021

More shots of Brian Cashman's guests, please.

Houston seems determined to put Gerrit Cole's invincibility to the test.

BRANTLEEEEEEEEEEY

May that be the death blow

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 20 October 2019 03:06 (four years ago) link

The throw was actually way better than the catch (and the catch was great).

Hey douchebag with the astros astronaut helmet on

calstars, Sunday, 20 October 2019 03:12 (four years ago) link

The astrodome is just a huge teepee and when the fly ball is corrupted by big business, what are the outfielders to do?

calstars, Sunday, 20 October 2019 03:16 (four years ago) link

Brantley has always been an underrated player. I saw him make an unbelievable catch for the Indians against the Reds in the far corner of right field. It was a full speed and dive extension up in the wall corner. Amazing catch, easily one of the best I ever saw in person.

earlnash, Sunday, 20 October 2019 03:19 (four years ago) link

I haven't heard many Smoltz-called game the past couple of years...he seems like he's got a little tiredness or brain fog or disinterest going on now. He trails off without finishing his sentence more than he used to.
