Loving these 9pm start games here in the UK.

I wish more guys--as the situation warrants, like right now--would do what Judge just did.

clemenza, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 20:35 (four years ago) link

if the Nats do wind up winning the World Series that would be the first real example of Bill Simmons' Ewing Theory actually coming true yes?

frogbs, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 20:41 (four years ago) link

Had to look that up...The best example I can think of, even if they didn't win everything, would be the post-Griffey-Johnson-Rodriguez '01 Mariners. They must be a cornerstone of his theory.

clemenza, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 20:45 (four years ago) link

i'm gonna stick w/ my cornerstone belief that Bill Simmons is a dope

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 15 October 2019 20:58 (four years ago) link

They were talking about this the other night, and it's hard to miss: Judge looks overmatched on breaking stuff low and away. (Hard for most hitters, but they said his height is a real problem on those pitches.)

Well, if you liked "James Paxton goes 2 1/3," I've got a ballgame for you...

yeah the theory is garbage - it doesn't even really apply to Patrick Ewing - but it's kinda fun to talk about. obviously will have to be renamed Bryce Harper theory after this

Past a twisting/drifting/roaming Gardner.

Andy K, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 21:35 (four years ago) link

i imagine simmons is only dimly aware of the situation, as it involves neither the NBA nor boston teams

mookieproof, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 21:43 (four years ago) link

cole's first four-walk game of the season

mookieproof, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 21:48 (four years ago) link

if they were using the regular season ball it would probably be 3-2 Yanks now lol

frogbs, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 21:51 (four years ago) link

bold move to bring severino back out, at 90 pitches, to face altuve/brantley/bregman a third time

mookieproof, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 21:52 (four years ago) link

that is a Ned Yost move if I've ever seen one let's see how it plays out

frogbs, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 21:53 (four years ago) link

doesn't seem like it should take kerwin danley this much time to put his gear on

mookieproof, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 21:57 (four years ago) link

ottavino really fell apart at the wrong time

mookieproof, Tuesday, 15 October 2019 23:12 (four years ago) link

i feel like the 2019 cardinals thing to do is win 2 games in WAS and then lose the 6th in STL

we'll need the extra two games to fully learn about ozuna's defense

Cardinals need to put up 2 runs so they can at least say they scored more runs on the Nathan than the Brewers

Nats will have a nice week's rest

The Nationals have scored first in every game.

They haven't trailed for one pitch of any game.

Only one team has ever swept a best-of-7 series when it scored first and never lost the lead in any game - the Orioles in the 1966 World Series.

Looks like they'll have company!

Getting out of the first inning allowing five runs instead of seven is starting to seem like it would have been an important thing.
