I find the Venn diagram of Pitchfork's consensus tastes compared to mine fascinating because the area where they overlap with me contains a bunch of my favorite stuff in the world and the area where they do not contains things I not only dislike but find actively offensive.

This feels much less true than it did 10 years ago.

ANOHNI has indie cred from the previous decade, has political songs about drone bombings and such and is perhaps the most popular transgender in the crowd that pitchfork caters to.

I've learned that music critic, music journalism, and academe are discrete communities that rarely overlap. When I go to MoPop, I stumble on a couple of Pitchforkers at most; when I go to the festival, it's the same.

They really butchered that albums list. I predict Rolling Stone will have a brilliant list that will stand the test of time better compared to this if only based on sincerity.Whatever Pitchfork brought to the table in their prime has been exchanged for something so dull. It feels like they want to be defined as both poptimists and alternative trendsetters but fail at both.

Tribe album is one of my faves here, but I can't relate to how you see it as "disrespectful". Though I can kinda see Qtip making a video about this list now....
