I find the Venn diagram of Pitchfork's consensus tastes compared to mine fascinating because the area where they overlap with me contains a bunch of my favorite stuff in the world and the area where they do not contains things I not only dislike but find actively offensive.

Not a close p4k reader but did they largely ignore vaporwave all together? Seems like something they'd big up, but there's no albums in the list (which is wrong).

lol, this list is ridiculous.
In this series of lists and features, Pitchfork takes a deep dive into the artists, genres, and movements that shaped the past ten years. We think it represents the best of what this landmark decade had to offer, and gives insight into where we may be going in the next one.

ANOHNI has indie cred from the previous decade, has political songs about drone bombings and such and is perhaps the most popular transgender in the crowd that pitchfork caters to.

I've learned that music critic, music journalism, and academe are discrete communities that rarely overlap. When I go to MoPop, I stumble on a couple of Pitchforkers at most; when I go to the festival, it's the same.

They really butchered that albums list. I predict Rolling Stone will have a brilliant list that will stand the test of time better compared to this if only based on sincerity.Whatever Pitchfork brought to the table in their prime has been exchanged for something so dull. It feels like they want to be defined as both poptimists and alternative trendsetters but fail at both.

Pitchfork Editor Thoughts: "You know what better represents the past decade and will prove to be a historically more important album than Beyoncé's Lemonade? That Lana Del Rey LP that came out five weeks ago."

Barnett's second is stronger. Though I'm sorta surprised they didn't put in her record with Kurt Vile just to sum both of them up and make more room for whatever else. I mean that's the kind of list this is.
