Takács Quartet, Beethoven: the Early Quartets on Decca. It's 55 degrees outside, and that's Beethoven weather.

King Crimson, Audio Diary 2014-2018. A 5CD box, one disc for each year. A very short track from the 2017 disc comes from the show I attended.

Current London based folk singer's lp on rituals etc concerning May. She has a great voice and is trying to update folk , but I'm surprised by the inclusion of songs with very archaic sympaties, as I was when i saw her playing live yesterday.
Had teh choice of 3 cds by her after the gig. Not sure if i went for the best one, this i sher latest one which has Daviud Tibet guesting on one track. Quitie nice, not sure it's her best of the 3.
Gig was good, was part of a series of afternoon concerts that have happened at the local university. Enjoyed it anyway.

The only one of the remastered cds that I have got so far . Hope i get a chance to get the other 3 or the whole box.
THis sounds great now anyway. Not sure when the last time I heard teh actual lp was, I don't think I had it on cd and don't think I found any kind of remaster for it anyway. Later 2 of the Flying Teapot trilogy seem to have had some attempt at sound improvement on earlier issues i think.
Wish I'd got both voilumes fo Daevid Allen's GOng Dreaming before SAF disappeared. 2nd one is pretty great.
NOt sure what I'm missing in terms of linernotes & packaging by having the individual cds not the box too.

Something has come over me, and I'm listening to loads of Black Metal. I liked this band The Black Dahlia Murder...but to wade through the crap on Spotify's Black and Death Metal lists is a chore.

I like this because it's dark and scary but funny at the same time. I can hear the similarities between indie and hardcore I used to like, and I didn't expect it.

I'm listening to (criminally overlooked) Belgian experimental/post rock band De Portables playing Sinead O'Connor's Troy but making it sound like Venus In Furs

AC Marias was a good cheapie I took a chance on earlier this year. Fit in well with the Dome reissues and the Michael O'Shea I was listening to during my crazy summer of Bruce Gilbert projects.

Probably about time it got a remaster. I have the cd from the late 80s I think.
Had it on vinyl back around then too and the 12" of Time Was.

This morning I was thinking about Sultans of Ping FC during my drive to work, and thought I would listen to them when I arrived to find out if they were any good, best part of 30 years since I heard them. So I listened to them when I got there and no, they were not any good, really not.

Ninajirachi's "Lapland" album is pretty great imo, if you're into that kind of thing

& having perused the liners, i see that pentangle preceded the dead on that day; wonder if their performance is sitting in an archive somewhere!?

now listening to the "glastonbury fayre" dark star which after wiki-comparing timings with the complete europe '72 set turns out to have been truncated by nearly ten minutes :-/

There was a rumour for years that all of the fillmore gigs had been recorded which appears to have born some level of fruit over the last few years.
So would be good if it was true of support bands as well as headline acts.
There is a 1968 set from one of the fillmores though I think it might be the East.

Stevolende, Friday, 15 November 2019 10:26 (four years ago) link

Ah dunno why I'm confusing ISB with Pentangle.

Stevolende, Friday, 15 November 2019 10:30 (four years ago) link

yeah, i remember that isb release coming out, but don't think i've ever actually checked it out... did find this: pentangle playing the fillmore east a few week before their fillmore west show

but for now all i want to listen to is

I know I have some live pentangle somewhere. Several live sets that were torrent ed over the last few years or maybe decade. I think at least one may be Fillmore but I haven't seen the folder in a while.
I think their beetle known live sets are London though. Sweet Child and whatever is on the early 00ies box set but can't think what that is or are they the same recording?

//e.snmc.io/i/300/s/8c1232011e720425a46cdb53485ec994/7217133
Irish Dark Ambient band that played at one of the TULCa festival so Ibought this, the latest cd by them. Not sure what is good by t6hem, this is pretty listenable. Does show metally roots which they only touched on momentarily live. Guitarist mainly played around with his volume pedal on his guitar live instead of strumming or picking. They seem to have a uniform of white formal shirts and balaclavas which isn't that inventive. & show various films behind them.
Enjoyed them live and may go see them again.

//e.snmc.io/i/300/s/95bc06564f300a073919576b842db083/7804473
the live set from the 3cd definitive edition. But I can't find a cover image for that separately.
Have been waiting for an official release of live music from this era. & this is tracklisted to reflect the lp.
Hope somebody thinks about putting out some actual live sets from then.

lp more fully reflective of Cave's loss of his son. Skeleton Tree was already partially recorded when the accident happened

the dark star > me & my uncle > dark star from rockin' the rhein is... something. at certain points it's near teetering into NOISE territory.
