Flagging is an ILX app for Android (in beta)

A few times now I've written a post on a thread and hit the submit button and the app says "Reply posted" but the post (so lovingly composed) is nowhere to be found.

When I next have a vacation day I'll roll out a quick fix that leaves the post in draft, so you can recover it if posting fails. Then there's some work to hopefully fix the problem by better aligning posting with how Zing does it.

Cool, thanks. My workaround of preemptively copying my genius quips into my clipboard before posting works fine too.

Flagging only shows the first frame of animated gifs in the main thread view. On single messages the animation is shown.

It's probably a feature, but it's pretty annoying in the current 00s tracks results thread, which has an animation for every track.

New version rolling out now that should be less likely to eat posts.

Just pushed another app update, fixes a long-standing bug with loading bookmarked threads when the bookmarked message is more than 100 messages in the past. In these cases it now loads the entire thread, let me know if anything breaks. I think this takes us out of beta.

Is it just me, or are Youtube embeds not working in Flagging anymore? I get this error message anytime I try to open one:

The web page at http://www.youtube.com/embed/bRMU787OEtY?html5=1&fs=1&controls=2&modestbranding=1 could not be loaded because:

net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED

They're working ok for me.

Hmm looks like it wants that embed to be https

In the meantime, it's not very slick, but the Browser link on the single post screen should work for this

Yep, it has a blank display name. 2002 was a freewheeling time for data validation. Fixed in the next release.

The youtube workaround has been fine 99% of the time btw, but "view in browser" sometimes strangely brings up a different thread.

What phone are you using?

On an s10 and that thread doesn't crash Flagging for me, but the thread won't open.

Would honestly contribute to a fundraiser to make Flag Post exist in Flagging.

I enjoy the irony of not being able to.

Also, search should be the priority.

Is there/ could there be a quick way of using the quote tags? on a phone i have to toggle between multiple keyboard views to type [/q ]

(in general maybe some kinda "formatting" button in the post-writing interface, to bring up shortcut buttons for all the tags? i'm assuming it would be a much bigger pain coding something where you select the text and just apply format, since Letterboxd, overall a very slick and elaborate app, "has" that feature but it's not at all reliable.)

This is awesome, if I was on the move and wanted to search for something I'd always had to sign into chrome first and search via browser. But this is better!

Embedded YouTube videos don't seem to work. I get a "web page not available" error message. Is this a known issue?

yeah we've been talking about this, you can get around it by clicking "open in browser" on the post

Hmm. Does it never work for you, or does it just fail on specific posts?

When it fails, how does it fail? (loads a blank black player with no title / image, loads with title and image but says "video unavailable" when you try to play ...)

FYI, have had an issue intermittently this week, where after opening a thread, the posts display, but neither the title block at the top nor the plus-sign at the bottom will appear, with or without scrolling/poking. i had thought maybe it was a problem with big threads cause it was mostly happening to me in the US Politics thread, but i just checked that one again and the problem didn't happen. (for all i know, this is idiosyncratic and will go away if i reboot my phone - just posting in case others can report yay or nay on experiencing this.)

Oops, my bad - it's happening when I go from the *thread* to the *post*. And seems to be pretty consistently happening on the US politics thread.
