I give Awe Naturale a slight edge, but I'm just happy to see they haven't been forgotten in the noisy landscape of the 2010s.

major publications will inevitably have to reflect some kind of "consensus", compromise, smoothing off rough edges. but the 2010s was a decade without consensus. we don't need another canon right now. better to take this opportunity to reflect and listen to some of the people who may have gotten overlooked the first time around, imo.

there's a lot of folks who are on this that would be on my list as well, but different records.

Just going through some year-by-year lists and one thing I've not seen much mention of is Dysnomia by Dawn of Midi. Great record.

^^^ I'm putting together a "best jazz of the 2010s" piece and had to think really hard about whether to include that record or not. It's fantastic, but ultimately I had to cut it to make space for things that had broader cultural resonance.
