Can’t be investigated for ‘corrupt deals in Ukraine’ if you turned up at the office too infrequently to do anything corrupt.

The Ukrainian official supppsedly quoted in the Daily Beast piece about being ready to investigate on request has clarified that he was just explaining the normal process for cross-border police investigations, though that should probably have been obvious.

politics are incredibly corrupt down here, worse than elsewhere imo, so I'd expect Tillis to hold his seat no matter what else happens

its not a minefield if you're too much of a fucking coward to ever put any mines down

yeah she has the ability to be a great legislator but until we get a senate that shit means nothing. so in the meantime how has she been useful at all?

a worse Dem leader would be capitulating to McConnell to pass bills in the name of "bipartisanship". Nancy's first major step was to force a govt shutdown, which Trump lost, over his stupid wall funding

xp

you tell me what a better Dem leader would do, I'm at a loss. She holds the caucus together and passes bills with or without GOP votes, that's the job.

all of the people who voted for trump in 2016 will see that the impeachment failed and then decide to vote for trump again. they were definitely going to vote for warren or sanders or biden, if the impeachment worked, instead of voting for mike pence or whatever wretched fuck they nominate

Sally Jessy (Karl Malone), Friday, 20 September 2019 20:25 (four years ago) link

or, they could just impeach the clearly guilty man and spend the next several months talking about how he's clearly guilty, and then let the wretched fucks lose their last shreds of dignity by defending him all the way to the 9th circle of hell

how many other cardboard cutouts couldn't have done the same thing though ? like you said it's the basics of the job. I think though all this shit we could have used a little more than all that.

I'm not totally on board with Shakey, but tell me how Seth Moulton and Tim Ryan would've held this caucus together. There was no one else gunning for the job.

anyway, cutting out all the bullshit that doesn't matter (eg focusing on me saying "last shreds of dignity", like that matters a fucking bit), your argument is they can't impeach because mcconnell won't let it come to a vote

what a fucking cowardly position to take

i mean fucking hell we had a great win in 2018 of what ? lets gain the house to pass bills that will never go anywhere and golf clap at this corrupt pos president

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 20 September 2019 20:38 (four years ago) link

one benefit of impeaching - not having this stupid argument again. the reason it comes up AGAIN and AGAIN is because it is something obvious that needs to be done and should have been done a long time ago.

"why are we having this stupid argument about playing Metal Machine Music at top volume for nap time at the orphanage? we've been through this over and over again, all of you think it's a bad idea, but i love metal machine music."

what did you expect when it looked like the Senate was out of reach? I expected one chamber of Congress to not pass shit that McConnnell and Trump wanted.

kids at the school across the street emptied out around 3pm and circled the block with chants of HEY HEY HO HO CLIMATE CHANGE HAS GOT TO GO which was somewhat heartening
but then a subgroup started chanting PLUTO IS A PLANET PLUTO IS A PLANET and then a smaller subgroup started chanting OPEN AREA 51 OPEN AREA 51 so i question their overall commitment
