When I am afraid, I put my toast in you (Neanderthal), Sunday, 15 September 2019 21:57 (four years ago) link

love endless shots of head coaches talking into mics behind sheets of paper

it’s the most exciting view in sports

mookieproof, Sunday, 15 September 2019 23:27 (four years ago) link

lol @ the ending to Bears-Broncos

Broncos score a TD with :30 left to make it 13-12
Denver decides to go for 2, but they get a delay of game, moving it back to a 7
Denver now decides to go for 1, MISSES the XP, but a Bears OL flinched right before the snap
This somehow brings it back to the 1 yard line, Denver goes for 2 again and makes it, 14-13 Denver

Do-overball

When I am afraid, I put my toast in you (Neanderthal), Sunday, 15 September 2019 23:31 (four years ago) link

wow Trubs just completed one with 0:01 left they have a shot to win now

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2019 23:32 (four years ago) link

wow

omar little, Sunday, 15 September 2019 23:33 (four years ago) link

I mean :30 w/ one timeout is basically an impossible situation for Mitch UNLESS you rough him and give him 15 free yards

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2019 23:36 (four years ago) link

ok watching that again theres no way that should've been roughing, he was throwing as he got hit. that's the kind of shit they kept calling on Clay Matthews last season

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2019 23:50 (four years ago) link

I mean "inertia" and all, it's frustrating but the NFL is going to continue to call it that way to keep the facade of them giving a shit about player's health.

except for when players re-enter games with concussions despite wobbling around cross-eyed

When I am afraid, I put my toast in you (Neanderthal), Sunday, 15 September 2019 23:52 (four years ago) link

which is not to say I don't think roughing should be a thing, but if the dude leaves his feet before the ball gets thrown, he ain't gonna realistically be able to stop, it's physics yo.

When I am afraid, I put my toast in you (Neanderthal), Sunday, 15 September 2019 23:52 (four years ago) link

that roughing call on chubb was terrible and so was the one on goldman earlier in the game

also the saints got a fumble returned for a TD negated

bring back the scab refs from 2012

mookieproof, Monday, 16 September 2019 00:50 (four years ago) link

saw chubb trending on twitter and was afraid chubb rock was dead

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Monday, 16 September 2019 01:44 (four years ago) link

tbf the Saints routinely getting blatantly screwed over by refs is pretty funny

almost wonder if they're gonna make roughing reviewable next year if they feel the changes to PI were a positive thing. its one of the more frustrating reffing things since it gets called in situations where the defender really had no way to stop themselves & its just another thing for the defense to have on their mind all the time. like 7-8 years ago you used to see a lot of drives extended by 15 yard "roughing the kicker" penalties that are basically the same, punter gets it off with 0.1 sec to spare, rusher dives for it and misses, winds up clipping the punter's knee, then boom drive extended. I feel like teams only half-try to block punts now because of that.

frogbs, Monday, 16 September 2019 13:44 (four years ago) link

You should be allowed to bodyslam kickers and punters imo

eek

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins are off to the worst start through two games of the regular season since 1973.

Following a 43-0 loss to the New England Patriots Sunday, the Dolphins have been outscored 102-10 after two games and now have a minus-92 point differential -- tied for worst in the Super Bowl era with the 1973 New Orleans Saints. Miami's 102 points allowed after two contests also is tied with those '73 Saints for most in Super Bowl era.

59-10
43-0

collinsworth was earnestly saying "you hate to see it" after a tackle got hurt last night, and it sounded bad

Jeff Bathos (symsymsym), Monday, 16 September 2019 17:32 (four years ago) link

overmemed twitterspeak "you love to see it" / "you hate to see it" RIP

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Monday, 16 September 2019 17:34 (four years ago) link

The Pats have pretty much led to the ruin of the rest of their division. You got one team tanking by plan (kinda) and one team tanking by effect (usually) and the Bills are forever caught in the friend zone a game or two under .500.

It's been like this nearly for two decades and Tom Brady looks younger now than he did 15 years ago.

'Somewhere in Palo Alto is a dark mansion where a painting eeerrrillly of an "older" Tom Brady keeps slowly changing...'

Is this possibly the worst jets team of the modern era? Wouldn’t have guessed so, but looks like it could be

bradys gotta be juicing right

No doubt about it

big city slam (Spottie), Tuesday, 17 September 2019 02:01 (four years ago) link

incredibly, the rex ryan/mark sanchez/buttfumble era is the apex of the jets' last 30+ seasons

you have to go back to ken o'brien/wesley walker/freeman mcneil in the mid-80s to find something better

mookieproof, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 02:24 (four years ago) link

the buttfumble ruled

the jets made the playoffs 6 times between 1998-2010, reaching the conf. champ 3 times!!! the playoff-making QBs: testaverde, pennington, sanchez

not an enviable peak, but my lions-fan friends are jealous

Mommy...can I go out and VAPE tonight? (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 17 September 2019 14:32 (four years ago) link

they nearly made it with Favre too but blew it in the last quarter of the season

(my theory is that Favre was badly injured but wouldn't sit & the Jets coaching staff didn't want to blow his streak, so they just lost out instead)

frogbs, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 14:38 (four years ago) link

two of the conference finals were with rex/sanchize, which is why i referred to it as a high point

mookieproof, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 15:10 (four years ago) link

agreed, but the buttfumble itself marked the end of an old era of semi-success and the start of a new one of disastrous failure

btw do you actually know any lions fans

Jets need to bring back Mark Sanchez, save the team!

earlnash, Wednesday, 18 September 2019 00:50 (four years ago) link

Dolphins really are in worse shape, as even though it is Miami, players are lining up at the door to get the heck out of the Hotel FLA.

They should be relegated to the CFL and the Calgary Stampeders move up.

lol at pitting the titans and jaguars against each other on a thursday night and expecting people to buy the nfl network

hahaha yep

I've hit 4 unders in a row on nationally televised game and now (because I'm dumb as shit) am parlaying that onto Dolphins +24 and Jets +22.5
