A new dawn in terror- Brokencyde are surpassed by Attack Attack!'s "Stick Stickly" and the emergence of CRABCORE

I love how the keyboard player isn't plugged into anything, no power, no cords to the amp, nothing.

I also love how the kid walks in right as the trance synth kicks in. Not only will the other kids not let you in to the show, but when you do finally sneak in it turns out that they were all going to see Aqua.

So I had to stop by the mall to pick up something for my wife and decided to stop in Hot Topic. Don't laugh, its one of the few brick and mortar stores in my area that regularly carries Century Media and Nuclear Blast releases. ANYWAY. Brokencyde and Attack Attack were everyfuckingwhere. I mean, they had AT LEAST 30 copies of each and tshirts tshirts tshirts. Apparently this is most definitely a THING.

hopefully attack attack fares better than brokencyde did in wikipedia's estimation of their relevance

totally prefer Brokencyde, though I do hope (as always) that some more focused youngsters somewhere will provide lengthier explorations of the trance/metal connection

totally prefer Brokencyde

I phrase I suspect you thought you would never utter.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 17 June 2009 17:33 (fourteen years ago) link

in fact I would like to solicit ILM's recommendations for not-too-cheesy trance + metal that doesn't come from cheeky noise bands, because Tatu could only go so far

鬼の手 (Edward III), Wednesday, 17 June 2009 18:31 (fourteen years ago) link

this entire thread can be summed up thusly

BrokeNCYDE single vond ik leuk op een debiele manier, Hollywood Undead had ook een paar aardige singles. Attack Attack! is waardeloos. Beste van het stel is wat mij betreft HORSE the Band met heel veel voorsprong.

Yowza! For most of the video I was like "Well, if you live in a place where Alexisonfire gets heavy radio airplay this isn't really anything new—WHATTHEFUCKwait what is that, Kanye West singing over Oingo Boingo allovasudden W T F !"

So that was fun, basically.

You never said that this would be easy,
So go on live,
You never said that this would be easy,
So go on live.

WOOOOOO!

This is the best part of the message,
And it only took one.

We live for what He's worth,
And that's more than you'll know.
He died for what He loved,
And what he loved was you.

I'll wait for you,
You know I'll wait for you,
I'll wait for you,
You know I'll wait for you.

You never said that this would be easy,
So go on live,
You never said that this would be easy,
So go on live.

Bow your head,
Go on live.

This is the time to let yourself go,
Lord pick me off the ground,
You never said this would be simple,
So pull me in and turn around.

yeah, the second I saw this, I was like, "these guys have GOT to be christian!" I mean, aren't all of these bands?

speaking of which, anyone ever watch this?
http://www.amazon.com/Should-Devil-Have-Good-Music/dp/B000BTITH6

I've always thought somebody should make a documentary about christian rock, so I'll have to check that one out. one of the most bizarre trends in recent times, imo.

it's like a self-sustained little mini universe that I know almost nothing about! that produces CRABCORE BANDS.

This is fascinating, no doubt. The younger generation's insatiable quest for energy (and extremity) now has a soundtrack.

The most instantly recognizable signifier of a band within the crabcore oeuvre is the presence of an Arch Cancerped (literally translated; "chief crabwalker"). The Arch Cancerped (or ACP) is an individual member of the band whose duty it is to set the speed, intensity, and depth of the crabwalk in a given piece of music. Much like the conductor of a symphony orchestra. Typically the ACP wears a black t-shirt and has a dyed-black sideways haircut.

am0n, Monday, 22 June 2009 19:49 (fourteen years ago) link

Other moves available to crabcore players include:

* The "Richardson Richardson"
* "Krinking"
* The "Beaver Bounce"
* The "Krunkle Kick"
* The "Shrimp & White Wine"
* The "Dirty Hamper"
* The "Pestal Press"

Another somewhat controversial move has gained a foothold in crabcore circles recently, which sees the player simply standing in one spot and running in place. No one understands this move. No one. Its sheer absurdity has kept it from getting an official name. The fact that the running-in-place move appeared at the same time as the crabwalk, and no-one involved in the scene has had time to discuss this move speaks volumes for the influential nature of the crabwalk. The running in place move usually is reserved to the screamer of the band, that is until the surprise techno break down. Upon this interlude all band members may participate in a crabcore run in place marathon.

you know who I feel bad for in all this? brokencyde. it's like they were totally obliterated in the wake of attack attack's douchenozzle jetstream.

you guys can't even be bothered to mock them anymore! that hurts! at least throw them a pity fuck or something.
