dombrowski out!

mookieproof, Monday, 9 September 2019 04:21 (four years ago) link

I’m still laughing at the Eovaldi contract.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 9 September 2019 04:26 (four years ago) link

And yet DiPoto still has a job

Its big ball chunky time (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Monday, 9 September 2019 05:12 (four years ago) link

the cano/diaz deal is making dipoto look like a genius. until you look at the rest of his deals

mookieproof, Monday, 9 September 2019 05:15 (four years ago) link

This is kind of a shock, but Cherington was fired about a year and a half after winning a title, and wasn't Dombrowski's contract up at the end of this year anyway?

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 9 September 2019 08:15 (four years ago) link

p sure he had a year left

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Monday, 9 September 2019 09:11 (four years ago) link

*really* pushing the whole mike yastrzemski thing last night; guess they do need some sort of distraction

mookieproof, Wednesday, 18 September 2019 17:11 (four years ago) link

four months pass...

I honestly thought Pedroia had already retired, but I guess not.

who are these people pitching tonight for this team that appears to be called the boston red sox? r. leyer? m. kickham? a. triggs? r. brasier? (ok, i mean, i know who brasier is. how bad did he have to be this summer to *not* get traded? does *he* know who leyer, kickham and triggs are?)

fact checking cuz, Thursday, 3 September 2020 05:03 (three years ago) link

pretty sure they run a comedy law firm

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 3 September 2020 06:44 (three years ago) link

that was m. kickham's first MLB appearance since 2014

respect the grind, i guess

mookieproof, Thursday, 3 September 2020 14:39 (three years ago) link

Literally lol’d at the comedy law firm

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 3 September 2020 15:13 (three years ago) link

kickham when they're down, as don henley once sang.

fact checking cuz, Thursday, 3 September 2020 16:16 (three years ago) link

Red Sox on a big tank job.

earlnash, Thursday, 3 September 2020 20:59 (three years ago) link

That 10th inning was glorious.

two years pass...

triston casas' career numbers to date: 41 at bats, 4 hits, 3 home runs.

fact checking cuz, Friday, 23 September 2022 01:48 (one year ago) link

display name determinism here

12 Ks as well 😬

Tracer Hand, Friday, 23 September 2022 07:41 (one year ago) link

and now another homer

and he's got 12 BB to go with with his 14Ks.. this guy's like the dictionary definition of the "3 true outcomes"

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 24 September 2022 22:24 (one year ago) link

At least he could hit the ball unlike b***y d****c

barry sito (gyac), Saturday, 24 September 2022 22:56 (one year ago) link

his ops (.702) is five and a half times his batting avg (.130) which is really really not easy to do.

fact checking cuz, Sunday, 25 September 2022 06:28 (one year ago) link

six months pass...

so i guess they'll be scoring nine runs every game this year? is that the plan? not a bad plan if they can continue to execute on it!

fact checking cuz, Monday, 3 April 2023 14:31 (one year ago) link

the plan will fall apart if the opposing teams catch on and plan to score 10 runs

ciderpress, Monday, 3 April 2023 14:35 (one year ago) link

The starting pitching though 🫣

limb tins & cum (gyac), Monday, 3 April 2023 14:57 (one year ago) link

well the last two games they only came to bat eight times so they're scoring even more than 9 a game 🤓

Tracer Hand, Monday, 3 April 2023 15:23 (one year ago) link

Pitching help is coming. Bello and Whitlock will be ready in 2-3 weeks. Kelly and Ort get sent down, Houck and Cutter become long guys.. This will be a pretty deep pen. But.... yeah. A lot hangs on the fragile appendages of two former aces now in their mid-30s. If this team hangs in there, and management really want to make a run, they have to deal for an elite starter imo

Tracer Hand, Monday, 3 April 2023 15:30 (one year ago) link

Yeah not great!

The defence... yikes

1 - Casas botched the bunt; he should either have just charged it or headed for the bag, instead he got hung up in no man's land, waiting for it to come to him

2 - In the seventh, Casas' very risky throw to third which put runners on the corners, rather than just taking the out at first

3 - Devers inexplicably not cutting off Yoshida's off-line throw home, allowing Bryan Reynolds to take THIRD

That said even though they were losses it's good to see some low-scoring games. Quality starts from Klubes and Pivetta

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 6 April 2023 07:29 (one year ago) link

I think one high quality starter will be needed this season, and a catcher upgrade. Otherwise.. I'm not so doom and gloom as the chicken little Globe commenters

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 6 April 2023 07:30 (one year ago) link

pirates have been waiting like six years for a dominant mitch keller start, and i guess this was it, if only because that game-tying three-run homer went just foul

at this point there may be little difference -- they both got rocked in their first starts -- but why did kluber get the opener last week and sale the second game?

mookieproof, Thursday, 6 April 2023 08:02 (one year ago) link

xxp wasn’t there a three run homer that got ruled out as well

limb tins & cum (gyac), Thursday, 6 April 2023 08:48 (one year ago) link

apparently Cora thought the bright lights of Opening Day would mess with Sale's head

which, if you think about it, probably messed with his head

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 6 April 2023 08:56 (one year ago) link

Duvall like the new Steve Pearce over here

Raffy’s slam to the opposite field a beaut, did not think it was going out

Houck back with the nasty stuff, let’s see how long he lasts

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 8 April 2023 20:58 (one year ago) link

What is Brasier’s problem

limb tins & cum (gyac), Saturday, 8 April 2023 22:49 (one year ago) link

Sounds like he'll be out til July. The way I'm looking at it, we got his best games.

Early yet but Pivetta is looking sharp against the mighty Rays.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 10 April 2023 23:10 (one year ago) link

Looks like the book on Casas is for lefties to bust him in and down with breaking stuff. Hard for those long arms to pull in enough and come around on it.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 10 April 2023 23:13 (one year ago) link

Well that was tough, but a real grown-up baseball game. Some sensational defensive plays, fantastic pitching, what can you do. (Swing at anything near the zone if you're Rafael Devers, maybe, just a tip for next time, just sayin)

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 09:01 (one year ago) link

Probably also worth saying, though it doesn't show up in the box score, Boston absolutely roped a good number of pitches but they just happened to go right at somebody. Many days those fall. But TB did a great job of keeping walks down - I think they only issued one. Just a real tight game, felt like the playoffs. Fun stuff.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 09:22 (one year ago) link

The Red Sox today reinstated RHP Garrett Whitlock from the 15-Day Injured List.

To make room for Whitlock on the active roster, the club optioned RHP Kutter Crawford to Triple-A Worcester following last night’s game.

The replies are all raging about Brasier, this is extremely funny to me

WOW!!! 😳😳😳

— Ryan Brasier (@ryanbrasier) April 4, 2021

NB I am already supporting two loser teams idc about a third but the lore is the best

limb tins & cum (gyac), Tuesday, 11 April 2023 20:05 (one year ago) link

Who calls their kid Kutter anyway? Grow up

limb tins & cum (gyac), Tuesday, 11 April 2023 20:05 (one year ago) link

Partially retract my Kutter slander, he pitched a gem today.

this team is fun

Since I posted that, Brasier seems to have evolved into a semi-decent closer?!

Houck has a 1.00 ERA through the first three innings this year. In innings four through six, however, Houck’s ERA stands at 10.38.

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 3 May 2023 19:06 (eleven months ago) link

makes you think…. maybe this guy’s a reliever
