is there no 2019 thread?

there was no 2018 thread either. tbh punk gig audiences have been steadily dwindling in London/Brighton over the past few years so not particularly surprising

not that I can complain because I often haven't bothered to post on here either.

of Bill's list I'm only aware of Fury who I don't like much and Uranium Club, who've been around a while but never quite gelled for me until that new album which I do like

I went to a hardcore all-dayer this month which was fun, had mostly newish bands playing various types of hardcore - Never, Gutter Knife, the Flex, Big Cheese, Mere Mortal, Frame of Mind

some punky stuff from 2019 I've been enjoying:

Vaaska - Inocentes Condenados 7" (absolute ripper)
Axe Rash - Axe Rash
Bad Breeding - Exiled
Briefs - Platinum Rats
Chubby & The Gang - All Along The Uxbridge Road 7"
Current Affairs - Buckle Up 7"
Diat - Positive Disintegration
the Freeze - Calling All Creatures
Game - No One Wins
Institute - Adjusting The Locks
Kaleidoscope - After The Futures
Mock Execution - Reality Attack 7"
Scab Eater - Ultra Vires
Asid - Pathetic Flesh
Disguise - Bas Fada 7"
Haram - Where Were You On 9/11 7"
Headsplitters - Headsplitters
Hygiene - Private Sector
Idiota Civilizzato - Civilta Idiota 7"
Khiis - Bezoar
Kriegshog - Paint It Black 7"
Scrap Brain - A Journey Into Madness
State Funeral - Built For Destruction 7"
Wild Billy Childish & CTMF - Last Punk Standing

I like seeing and hearing all this new stuff listed, and I love talking about punk but am sadly aging out of going to too many shows because of work and life in general.

Can we keep talking here until 2020 and start a new one then? Or just make an overall rolling thread?

That Fury album is great, esp this track

listened to a bit of New Vietnam by Civic this lunchtime. into this, thanks for the rec

I've only heard the first album by Fury and that was pretty generic iirc. maybe I should give this new one a go...

listened to the rest of the Civic EP and this is right up my street. never seen them mentioned before outside this thread. the system works!

I think it's previously released material, but I'm really digging this R.M.F.C. compilation:

one month passes...

xp oh cool glad to hear it

that's funny cause I started listening to New Vietnam and couldn't get more than two tracks in because it was too "balls out" garagey/guitar soloy

Irony is track 3 "Satellites" and "Street Machine Dream" see them veer a little more into that poppy territory! Give it another shot when you've worn out Those Who No

not really crusty enough to hang with this thread, but definitely not emo, so whatever: I love Chubby and the Gang's Speed Kills, easily the most purely fun punk record I've heard in a long time

bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Wednesday, 22 January 2020 14:24 (four years ago) link

I haven't heard the album yet but the single was good.

but they totally count for this thread! there's no "must be crust punk" rule! I mean they are on Static Shock records

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 14:48 (four years ago) link

I have now listened to the Chubby & The Gang album and yeah it's a good one

also got tickets to the Thursday and Saturday of Static Shock Weekend. but not the Friday, which is when Chubby & The Gang are playing. probably can't really go out 3 nights in a row anyway. if I did decide I absolutely must have more punk rock that weekend the Subhumans are playing in Hastings on the Friday anyway, although that will probably sell out in advance. I did note that Sadistic Bomb Fuckers who flopson posted upthread (haven't actually heard them) are playing on the Saturday though.
