Yeah I'm not normally a cat person but these images are great.

Managed to catch up with this thread last night after a busy couple of days, really enjoying the mix of eras across the rollout. My own ballot was very YAF-heavy - that was my introduction to Cat Power and it's a record that's stayed with me over the years, just listening to 'Shaking Paper' again reminded me what a unique feel it has.

re easter egg: oh yes, i see some names there, thank you. a slight correction, it is mainhattan not manhattan. Main as the German river, -hattan for the Frankfurt skyline.

Good Woman breaks my heart into thousand little pieces every time I hear it.

"Good Woman" is my #1. Her songs with distorted, electric fingerpicking have this voluptously romantic quality that sends me into dizzy swoons, and it's such an intense pleasure.

And it's technically so simple (this noob guitarist can play a decent rendition of the song)! It's another example of how Chan can take simple elements and build on and twist them into these miraculous gems.

i never paid too much attention to "good woman" but it definotely is a lovely song. warren ellis "noisy" violin makes the difference for me.

"he turns down" for me is all about the flute which brings this special bukolic flavour. it is almost a jazz improvisation.

I didn't vote in this but "Good Woman" would have been my #1. Vedder a shockingly effective counterpoint

"Maybe Not" is another example of the Urgent Cat Power Chorus. It doesn't let up and I'm always swept away in its emotional wash.

say is just as enchanted and strange as when I first heard it. always puts me in mind of the summer dusk.

"Maybe Not" was my number one, I basically had this song on a loop when I was 17-18. I'm kind of surprised it didn't make the top 10, actually! Happy to see "Manhattan" rank so high, though; it's my favourite off Sun.
