GameStop dudes claiming that game informer is only available as a digital subscription - apparently full of shit

I don't talk GI on ILX generally. But I'm so incredibly sad right now. These people are really wonderful and talented people and one is one of my best friends.

I know people don't ever believe it, but GI really was independent and everyone there worked hard to do good work. I couldn't have asked to work with better people. Started getting texts this morning, just sick to my stomach. With some of the people I know are gone (more than is even out on Twitter) I don't know how they will function.

Everyone hates GameStop but believe me you have no idea how shortsighted and idiotic those dumbfucks are. I've met VPs there that were fucking lobotomized.

Some of these layoffs were conducted in the most disgusting ways, including 2 ppl who got phone calls on vacation after 10+ years. Fucking abysmal.

Sorry this happened to your friends. I've gotten pretty attached to a lot of podcast regulars and writers over the last few years... a lighthouse of good vibes in dark times.

Given that I only buy a handful of games a year, despite owning the Xbox series and a PS2, GI is my primary reason for renewing the GameStop member card. I did/do believe in the writers and their willingness to call a game out for its flaws, but also appreciated their optimism in highlighting the promise of a game in development. Really enjoy the letters and people's monofocus on their own favorite genre/game/platform and their accusations of favoritism. Darth Clark continuing to fool people every year, fun also.
