First Bison no-hitter since Bartolo in 1997:

(Odd that Zeuch only struck out three, though--more luck than usual, I would think.)

I know there was some good plays behind him. I think pitching to contact and not having a lot of battles was what allowed him to go the full 9.

True enough--the high-strikeout, CG no-hitter is pretty much extinct.

Getting killed, but Bo has homered twice off Kershaw.

Thermo's guy, Nate Pearson, had a great triple-A debut last night: 7 innings, 3 hits, 3 strikeouts, no walks or runs, 55 strikes in 88 pitches. Maybe he and Zeuch and one more solid starter will be enough to get us back into the wild-card picture next year. (Probably jumping the gun by a year--and if they're looking to trade, they'll likely have to part with Biggio or one of the young catchers to get that starter. I don't know what else they can offer.)

i see Zeuch as another Pannone/SRF type who could eat up innings at the major league level, but not much beyond that. Pearson I'm obv pretty high on – Kay could also have some impact next year (who we got for Stroman). and then it's probably 1-2 full years before we see the younger guys in our top-10 (Manoah, Pardinho, SWR, Kloffenstein). hopefully we can lure a mid-rotation guy in the offseason – see if we can compete for the WC next year - and bridge us to the younger, high-ceiling guys who are all looking p good so far.

Former Jay, but I'll post here.

The title reeled me in: "This should be great, he's going to go off on the Jays, Shapiro, Sanchez, everything." I've only skimmed, but he sounds off on just about nothing.

the pen blew it, but Kay's debut went well today. his curve looked filthy at times. even my five year old was wowed by the pitch he ended the first with, that Meadows thought was going to hit him.

Stroman also pitched tonight. 4 ER in 4 IP with half the strikeouts (4) Kay racked up through 5.2!

Along the same lines: sad, but Grichuk is the first Jay to lead the team in six key offensive categories (they ran through them last night: I think it was hits, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, and something else). A .233 hitter, OBA under .300.

At $5M, maybe he's something of a bargain, I don't know. But the fact is, his OPS+ is below league average, and he's 0.5 WAR. He strikes me as basically a replacement-level player this year, so what's the market value for someone right at replacement level?

"Once more, 38% of you got it right, which was a plurality. Randal Grichuk missed more opportunities to drive in runs than any other major league player in 2019."

Go Jays. (I would've entered the '92 team rather than the '93 team. The '93 team had more star-glamour and the big offense, but the pitching advantage to the '92 teams is sizable.)

The no travel restrictions element of this is particularly interesting for #BlueJays given the Canada fed gov’s seemingly more stringent response compared to that of the United States’ fed gov. What happens if teams can travel within the US but still can’t cross the border? https://t.co/HPLIsUMrvY— Laura Armstrong (@lauraarmy) March 27, 2020

@joe_sheehanRemember that in 1995, Ontario law barred the use of strike breakers, so the Blue Jays were going to have to play in Dunedin before that plan, brought to you by Hall of Famer Bud Selig, fell apart.
Hadn't given him any thought until I saw this, and then I thought yeah, what happened?

I was up at 4:00 last night watching the bat-flip game...A couple of things I'd forgotten: 1) the fantastic one-handed play Donaldson made just prior to the bizarre errant throwback that put the Rangers up; 2) the Pompey slide at home just before Bautista's home run--that the catcher somehow managed to hang on to the ball, and that Texas was fishing for a double-play because of the slide. I've never heard anything like the noise-level, and right from the start of the game; it was so loud, there were constant audio drop-offs. The broadcast crew didn't even mention the bat-flip for at least the first four or five minutes after the home run (went to bed at that point).
