He's not a good captain, his form and test average have dropped since becoming captain, his teams collapse too often. The new coach has to make the decision and give the captaincy to somebody else.

what you say about him getting sacked might still happen, or Root himself might decide he's had enough, but I just don't think it's true he's a bad captain. He's not Vaughan but then very few have been.

Root has to be sacked. He along with the head coach is responsible. His batting has suffered as captain, he has not been leading from the front scoring centuries.
New coach needs a clean slate to change the mentality.
