there was some stat the other night about how Sale is like 9th on the all-time list of pitchers with 10-strikeout games. something like 75 games. the leader was Ryan with 200+

Sale does have a chance to be the fifth guy to 4,000--he'd need eight more seasons of 250. Not a great chance, but a decent one. Scherzer, less of a chance I'd say (2,638, age 34); Kershaw, no chance (2,406, age 31--but he just barely cracked 200 once since 2015).

What a list--3 x 500+, 2 x 600+, Trout, Acuna, and a guy with really bad luck (who undoubtedly would have hit 500 otherwise heading out of the pitcher-dominated '60s).

Soto has a shot to hit 60 before turning 21 (he's on pace for 56 career HR by end of season, he turns 21 in October).

those dudes are so good. Acuna has got to be making a late run for MVP consideration at this point too; clearly still a tier below Belli and Yeli but the voters always like a guy on a contender who turns it on in the last couple months...

Jacob deGrom accomplished the exceptionally rare feat of hitting a home run and striking out at least 13 batters in the same game for the second time this season. He is the first player to ever accomplish the feat twice in his career.

I wonder where Mitch Garver's season stacks up compared to other power-hitting catchers. he has 30 HR, 29 as a catcher. it's probably a bit too obscure to find the fewest AB to 30 HR at the catcher position, but he might be about to blow past it, having appeared in only 83 games.

it looks like the Braves may very well have three players hit 40+ HR (Acuna has 39, Freeman 38, Donaldson 37), which would be only the fourth time in MLB history it's occurred. The other three times: twice by the Rockies ('96 w/Burks, Galarraga, and Castilla & '97 w/Walker, Galarraga, and Castilla), and of course the '73 Braves (Aaron, Evans, Davey Johnson).
