Lille were so fun to watch last season so a bit sad to see them splitting up but inevitable I guess. Pepe was v good indeed last season. Weird also to see fakir going from lyon so cheaply even with his slight drop off in form would have liked to see him at LFC playing in a midfield 3 in those games when the opposition is in ten men behind the ball mode.

...Bale has negative value at this point
― Number None, Sunday, 28 July 2019 12:59 (four years ago) link
I will exhale on Cutrone once he's here and wearing a Wolves shirt. H hasn't exactly been angling for a move away from Milan even tho both clubs want it. Intrigued anyway, he's unlikely to be a starter from the beginning of the season so there is a little less pressure on him and time for him to settle in.

34 league appearance last season, 3 goals?
― Arthur Lowe & Love (Tom D.), Sunday, 28 July 2019 13:41 (four years ago) link
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that a lot of those were substitute appearances.
― Arthur Lowe & Love (Tom D.), Sunday, 28 July 2019 13:43 (four years ago) link
Yeah I don't think he was a regular starter last season but that's a bit chicken and egg as far as goals are concerned. Given his age and the fact that he isn't an immediate first 11 purchase I'll trust Nuno's judgement for now.

Is that... Comic Sans?
― Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 July 2019 07:52 (four years ago) link
yeah they've had that font for years now

Must've forgotten that I knew that *shrugs*
Quiet transfer period so far, EPL wise, with one of the top bbc stories today about a possible return of Adebayor!
― Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 July 2019 10:37 (four years ago) link
Not Comic Sans though - the cross-bar on the A is too steep and goes outside the right-hand downstroke. Whatever font that is is worse than Comic Sans IMO.

Seems they have a new font every year. This was the Bale 12/13 font.

tbf, they'd save Real Madrid about £85m in wages if he's not sitting on their bench for the next three years.
― ShariVari, Monday, 29 July 2019 12:29 (four years ago) link
As I said above, due to his wages he essentially has negative value
They were doing Real a favour

Moise Kean to Everton, here we go! Total agreement reached with Juventus, last details will be completed on next hours. The striker will fly to UK tomorrow to undergo his medicals and sign the contract. 🔵 #transfers #Everton #Juve— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 30, 2019

It's weird when Moise Kean seems like a fantastic coup but otoh it's up to £36m for a 19yo after a good season in Serie A. I don't even know anymore.
― lilcraigyboi (Craigo Boingo), Tuesday, 30 July 2019 12:44 (four years ago) link
It’s an amazing deal. He looks like one of the most talented young strikers Italy has produced in years and the price is a relative steal imo. I am really surprised that Juve agreed to let him go without the €60m buyback clause.
Potentially shifting him and Dybala and keeping Ronaldo / Higuain looks really strange.
― ShariVari, Tuesday, 30 July 2019 12:54 (four years ago) link
Yeah, a great deal. Everton doing well so far. Brands rarely disappoints.
For Juve though, SV otm. No idea why they're letting go of the younger hot prospects relatively easily.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 30 July 2019 13:09 (four years ago) link
Probably think they'll hate living in the UK and come back eventually after two or three lacklustre seasons.

― Number None, Friday, 2 August 2019 15:19 (four years ago) link
Nakamba has like three career goals, so there may be limited opportunities for Guy Mowbray to shout "now that WAS marvelous" in that uh inimitable tone he does, but you never know

Personally think Maguire is better than his worst detractors allow and there's always a premium on home grown-ness. Don't see how he doesn't improve Umited

yeah i'm not bothered about missing out on Dybala in these circumstances
i'm pretty fucking concerned that we appear to be going into the season with significant reinforcements in midfield or attack though
our midfield options as it stands are fairly grim - Pogba, Matic, McTominay, Fred, Pereira
― Number None, Monday, 5 August 2019 09:42 (four years ago) link
Seems like our Hirving Lozano is off to Napoli for around 40m. He's not been playing well recently, and we've got (younger) youngsters eager to fill in his position, still a bit sad to see him go though.

Somehow I don't think when Eriksen talked about a next chapter, chugging around the Europa League with Solskjaer as manager was quite what he had in mind.
