HANNIBAL on NBC seems amazing and therefore deserves it's own thread!

i still havent finished watching the final season - there is a definite type of headspace i need to be in &. i just cant find it lately. i find it so confusing & spend the whole time like “huh”?

it bums me out. i need to try harder - maybe reattempt over the holidays

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 27 November 2019 18:09 (ten months ago) link

I finally finished Wondefalls yesterday. I was meh on it, although the xtc theme is very good. And Alana is good in it.

^ This. It was grate but the further I went the more I felt like I was getting sucked into some of inescapable nihilistic void. Like, thanks for reflecting my everyday life so accurately, there, Hannibal, jeez.

is "first half of s3 >>>>>> second half of s3" a minority opinion/challop? cause that's still very much where I'm at

Simon H., Wednesday, 27 November 2019 20:11 (ten months ago) link

i think most people agree with you but i think the quality is maintained throughout

american bradass (BradNelson), Wednesday, 27 November 2019 20:13 (ten months ago) link

it's not like the adaptation of red dragon isn't also an inside-out dreamscape

american bradass (BradNelson), Wednesday, 27 November 2019 20:14 (ten months ago) link

I am very much looking forward to luxuriating in it instead of being like 'wtf (giggle)' the entire time on first viewing.

Yerac, Wednesday, 27 November 2019 20:15 (ten months ago) link

I am kind of glad I had no clue what the deal was with any character or what any of the framing was about.

Yerac, Wednesday, 27 November 2019 20:16 (ten months ago) link

my issue w/ the back half of s3 is that the RD himself was no more compelling than any of the single-serving baddies from seasons past (also I've never been that fond of the finale tbh)

Simon H., Wednesday, 27 November 2019 20:22 (ten months ago) link

the red dragon himself was pretty silly. But it didn't bother me.

Yerac, Wednesday, 27 November 2019 20:24 (ten months ago) link

the finale is SO awesome

american bradass (BradNelson), Wednesday, 27 November 2019 20:31 (ten months ago) link

i've read and seen both film adaptations of red dragon so i'll always find that story compelling. i guess armitage is no tom noonan but who is (and i still think he does pretty well)

american bradass (BradNelson), Wednesday, 27 November 2019 20:33 (ten months ago) link

Supposedly, they started talking about a season 4 again.

I used to rep for Wonderfalls pretty hard, but last time I watched I had to admit it hasn't aged well. It does have a good premise, a mostly great cast, and a few stand-out eps, plus I think the second season could have been excellent. I wish Dhavernas had gotten more work.

rob, Wednesday, 27 November 2019 23:44 (ten months ago) link

yeah, I remember seeing one episode when it was on tv and thinking it was something I would really like but as I was watching it this month (all episodes on youtube), it felt very dated.

Shortly after this was announced, Fuller said that its existence didn't necessarily preclude the possibility of a fourth season somewhere down the road, as they'd already accepted that they probably wouldn't be able to use Clarice anyway.

Dr. Teeth and the Women (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 16:56 (seven months ago) link

yeah, but the possibility of it and inaccessibility to the material is a large part of what shut down a hannibal season 4 iirc
anyway, what about honey harper? just me?

THE WHOLE DAMN HANNIBAL'S OUT OF ORDER!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 29 January 2020 20:54 (seven months ago) link

A swan at the pond in Pembroke Castle in Wales has killed 15 others that have dared to invade his territory. He has been seen to bite them, batter them with his wings and drown them by holding their heads under water. The creature, nicknamed Hannibal, is said to “show off” to his mate and cygnet after a kill, swimming round with his wings up. However, he and his family are now likely to be removed. Maria Evans, a wildlife worker, said: “I’ve never come across such an aggressive bird. He is a horrible swan.” Hannibal will have blood tests to see if his behaviour is caused by pollution in the pond.

Yerac, Wednesday, 29 January 2020 20:56 (seven months ago) link

swans are notably assholes!

one month passes...

Hannibal's fourth season has been left up in the air since the series' cancelation by NBC, but Fuller still has hope - and plans - for the future.

Other details involved his interest in bringing back Anna Chlumsky as Miriam Lass, an FBI trainee who worked under Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) before being captured by Hannibal and kept hostage for two years. Lee Pace, according to Fuller, was whom he wished to cast as Buffalo Bill if he got the opportunity to explore The Silence of the Lambs arc. As for Clarice, who is arguably Hannibal's primary interest in many ways, Fuller said that her inclusion "depends on how Season 4 would have ended." He had expressed interest in casting Ellen Page in the role, but also potentially making Clarice a black woman from a lower-class background, which would essentially give him license to put his own creative stamp on the character in Hannibal's future.
