Font preference for old.css would be appreciated! or anything that lets it go back to the old font, thx!

Dan I., Wednesday, 3 July 2019 03:49 (four years ago) link

Btw just want to say I like the new looks and thanks for the effort!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 03:51 (four years ago) link

oh wait, caek.css looks like the old style? Maybe can just use that

Dan I., Wednesday, 3 July 2019 03:53 (four years ago) link

ahhh caek me

mookieproof, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 04:02 (four years ago) link

haha it's got too much space between posts though! the truth continues to be undeniable: all those who wish to view ILX other than how it appeared in 2001 are monsters

Dan I., Wednesday, 3 July 2019 04:04 (four years ago) link

Thanks for the caek tip, this font is the true and correct ILX font, accept no substitutes

Screamin' Jay Gould (The Yellow Kid), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 04:14 (four years ago) link

caek.css sucks. i just loaded it and it's bad. lagoon.css is where it's at.

Woah I just now refreshed (old.css) and the font went all biggity.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 04:15 (four years ago) link

(Not complaining rly, i'm half blind anyway)

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 04:16 (four years ago) link

lagoon.css, what is this suck.com web 1.5 bullshit?!

Dan I., Wednesday, 3 July 2019 04:16 (four years ago) link

Having massive amounts of white space on either side of my screen makes me an intellectual

Dan I., Wednesday, 3 July 2019 04:17 (four years ago) link

I joke, but I couldn't edit a css template to save my life. Really, hold a gun to my head and try me!

Dan I., Wednesday, 3 July 2019 04:19 (four years ago) link

caek.css is great if you like reading incredibly hard to read long lines of text. maybe it's less of an issue now no one writes posts longer than 20 works.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 04:36 (four years ago) link

p.sure "great if you like reading incredibly hard to read long lines of text" is the official ilx slogan

Dan I., Wednesday, 3 July 2019 05:04 (four years ago) link

i must admit i still like caek.css because it presents an oddly impenetrable screen at work. people’s eyes just sort of glaze away from it.

Fizzles, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 05:44 (four years ago) link

i honestly get antsy looking at any other stylesheet now. i guess this mainly applies to viewing on a PC monitor tho

Rory end to the lowenbrow (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 07:46 (four years ago) link

Is there any difference between caek.css and the old.css style, apart from the font? Doesn't look like it on a quick diff -- what was the point, caek?

stet, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 09:44 (four years ago) link

At the risk of a cuff around the ear, is there any chance of getting capitals back on Bookmark / Flag / Link?

Andrew Farrell, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 10:04 (four years ago) link

I like it lower-case. It goes better with the lower-case datestamp. Low profile, like

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 10:28 (four years ago) link

I’m using kenan dark and it’s still one word of bookmarkflaglink but I don’t mind it

Vini C. Riley (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 10:49 (four years ago) link

They're the only lower case links on the page, I think - at least change all the rest of the links to lower case, so I can finally quit this site.

Andrew Farrell, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 11:24 (four years ago) link

i am even getting complaints about this in my own home but i still say no, never, forwards not backwards! i might even write a style rule to downcase everything everywhere

xp yes I have the Remove Bookmark from this Thread capitals in my sights.

stet, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 11:26 (four years ago) link

this is still looking weird on swiss.css on a mac

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 12:29 (four years ago) link

never not lower case

Rory end to the lowenbrow (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 12:36 (four years ago) link

cad can you try opening this link and do a cmd-F for ".bookmark "? It should look like this:

https://i.ibb.co/F4cHZ7w/Screenshot-2019-07-03-at-13-42-38.png

stet, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 12:44 (four years ago) link

yup, i see it.

.bookmark {
margin-bottom: 0.2em;
margin-right: 0.5em;
}

but bookmarkflaglink is still squished together with no spaces

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 13:01 (four years ago) link

Well that’s weird. Is it like that on all the Swiss variants?

stet, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 13:22 (four years ago) link

Stet: not at computer so can’t diff right now but iirc old.css constrained images to a relatively small width. Caek.css let them be full size. Good for threads like wall o gina, etc.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 13:37 (four years ago) link

destroyer just do a "super reload" using cmd-opt-R, it will get a fresh css copy

an incoherent crustacean (MatthewK), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 13:40 (four years ago) link

cmd-shift-r but that did the trick. thanking u.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 14:01 (four years ago) link

compared to caek.css, old.css has this for images (bad and vulgar)

max-width:85%;
max-height:800px;

and this for font (caek.css uses browser default, usually TNR):

body {
font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;
}

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Wednesday, 3 July 2019 16:09 (four years ago) link

Ahh gotcha I think I remember now thanks

stet, Wednesday, 3 July 2019 18:06 (four years ago) link

still not fixed :(

Mordy, Sunday, 7 July 2019 13:53 (four years ago) link

sorry to report... :/

Mordy, Tuesday, 9 July 2019 13:36 (four years ago) link

tried it in chrome + safari both

Mordy, Tuesday, 9 July 2019 13:36 (four years ago) link

Can you just check it's not happening on all stylesheets -- does old.css work, for instance?

stet, Tuesday, 9 July 2019 14:00 (four years ago) link

not a problem in old.css

Mordy, Tuesday, 9 July 2019 14:26 (four years ago) link

two months pass...

Hey y'all, I'm noticing a thing lately where if a url is posted with a closed parenthesis at the end, that closed parenthesis shows up in the post as plain text rather than as part of the url, which leads to an error when you click the (now incorrect) link. Like so:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Downey_(comedian)

NBD, just thought you should know.

Welcome To My Lifemare (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 18 September 2019 18:11 (four years ago) link

That has been happening since forever.

brigadier pudding (DJP), Wednesday, 18 September 2019 18:24 (four years ago) link

Which, as anyone familiar with my observational skills can tell you, in no way contradicts my having just now noticed it.

Welcome To My Lifemare (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 18 September 2019 18:28 (four years ago) link

if you feel fancy you can replace the ) at the end with %29 when you post a link

a passing spacecadet, Wednesday, 18 September 2019 18:30 (four years ago) link

ty, I will employ that when fanciness next overtakes me.

Welcome To My Lifemare (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 18 September 2019 18:36 (four years ago) link

I agree - or not, since you said it was NBD - it is mildly bothersome, btw, but I don't know how often it happens the other way round, i.e. someone actually posts a parenthesis-less link inside parentheses and doesn't leave a space

theoretically the link finder could check whether the opening bracket is after the http or before but if we try to make it aware of all possibilities we'll bring SkyNet online before we know it

(I may try this line next time my boss asks for something I don't want to do)
