Right now this very second I think you could make a strong case for any one of them, but I'm going to vote for Johan cuz the last three years he was probably an ever so slightly better pitcher than Sabbathia/Halladay and if you go back five he was the undisputed king of the hill.

I think VORP adj for park and league, but I guess not for lineup.

halladay - johan is second easily but i have a problem with the fact that johan goes 6 2/3 max every game

Although according to Fangraphs WAR (which appears to park/lineup adj) stat it really should be Sabbathia in a walk:

Three years:
Sabbathia 7.7/7.2/2.8
Halladay 5.8/7.6/3.9
Santana 4.6/4.8/1.8

i'd say Halladay (although i'll admit to bias). stats aside - nobody in baseball gobbles up inning like he can and he gets his guys back to hitting faster than anyone i've ever seen.

good point.. it's important when pitching to get your own offense motivated. And as Joe Morgan once said, great pitchers don't worry about getting outs, they're looking to help their own offense to see the ball at the plate.

Santana has thrown ~ 230 innings every year for the past few years and hardly ever missed a start during that time. If you're somehow trying to claim that Santana doesn't eat innings, you're wrong.

For me this is Halladay vs Santana, and I'm also tempted to go with Halladay because of the division and league he's pitched in for his entire career, but like Thermo I'm just a LITTLE bit biased.
