I’m very intrigued to see if an all star PF can actually play up to their potential next to lebron and not be relegated to spacing the floor spotting up

Can’t wait to hear how close the Celtics were to trading for Davis

I’m sure the Lakers are happy to know

what was the deadline deal the pels rejected?

it was iirc: lonzo, BI, kuzma, zubac, hart, two first rounders for davis and solomon hill

so pelicans lose kuzma and zubac and gain/keep a 1st rounder and solomon hill (also preserve the timeline where they get the number 1 pick)

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 00:29 (nine months ago) link

that timeline is the most valuable asset of all

Jeff Bathos (symsymsym), Sunday, 16 June 2019 00:32 (nine months ago) link

definitely

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 00:47 (nine months ago) link

Interesting to see if they try to flip the 4th pick and another piece of the haul for the Knicks 3rd spot and get RJ.

Fetchboy, Sunday, 16 June 2019 01:18 (nine months ago) link

i think they're more likely to target a vet/all-star with that #4. their trade demands were current all-star, potential future all-star, and two first rounders.

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 01:23 (nine months ago) link

rn theyre starting 5 looks like:

lonzo-jrue-zion-BI-??

spurs might dangle aldridge for #4

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 01:24 (nine months ago) link

seems possible that the Knicks could end up with nothing from free agency which would be hilarious

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Sunday, 16 June 2019 01:48 (nine months ago) link

xp lol *their

and yeah knicks are looking at a big swing and a miss. like maybe theyll panic and throw a max deal at kd and maybe kd will take it, but i cant see any other free agent combo coming through.

it will be very interesting to see what will happen in the 2019-2020 nba regular season -- not to mention the playoffs

LOS ANGELES -- Not long after learning his son Lonzo Ball will be part of a blockbuster trade for Anthony Davis, LaVar Ball made his thoughts clear on what he felt the Los Angeles Lakers had just agreed to do.

"I guarantee: Like I say again, it will be the worst move the Lakers ever did in their life and they will never win another championship," LaVar Ball said when asked by ESPN for his first reaction to the trade while at the Drew League to watch his son LaMelo play. "Guarantee it."

the curse!

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Sunday, 16 June 2019 02:54 (nine months ago) link

The Pelicans will get the following picks from the Lakers, league sources tell ESPN:

No. 4 pick in 2019
Top-8 protected in 2021, becomes unprotected in ‘22
Unprotected swap in ‘23
Unprotected first in ‘24
Unprotected swap in ‘25

Tremendous haul for David Griffin & the Pelicans.

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 June 2019 03:06 (nine months ago) link

apparently there some pick deferments so if pelicans dont like the pick they get in '24 they can wait until '26

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 03:07 (nine months ago) link

i think i like this deal for both teams, next they shd trade lebron

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 June 2019 03:07 (nine months ago) link

this is making me so mad bc the spurs got such a shitty return for kawhi and this kind of return only happens bc ppl saw how valuable one year of a superstar can be boo hoo hoo

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 03:08 (nine months ago) link

well Davis is gonna stay in LA is the thing

Clay, Sunday, 16 June 2019 03:09 (nine months ago) link

ya

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 June 2019 03:10 (nine months ago) link

that is true

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 03:11 (nine months ago) link

one thing the lakers arent accounting for is the possibility that zion will dunk on bron and explode him into many small pieces, hard to come back from that

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 June 2019 03:21 (nine months ago) link

of course, that may not happen until zion's second year in the league

A is for (Aimless), Sunday, 16 June 2019 03:25 (nine months ago) link

yeah need to see some projections

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 June 2019 03:27 (nine months ago) link

Oh man remember when
Klay did the big balls dance :(

big city slam (Spottie), Sunday, 16 June 2019 05:17 (nine months ago) link

um so apparently woj and/or bobby marks is saying on tv that the way this is structured the lakers will only have $23M in space on july 1?

call all destroyer, Sunday, 16 June 2019 15:56 (nine months ago) link

i guess they can get to $32M on july 30. they'd have to make a promise and hope that someone is willing to wait. i don't remember this type of timing issue with past trades tbh.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 16 June 2019 16:07 (nine months ago) link

its bc of the cap value of the no 4 pick iirc, its a p good sized salary

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 17:09 (nine months ago) link

ah that makes more sense, thanking u

call all destroyer, Sunday, 16 June 2019 17:24 (nine months ago) link

yeah the way woj is reporting this the lakers are not gonna have a max slot salary. they might be better off using that space to sign some high level role players (3 and D wings, point guards).

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 17:28 (nine months ago) link

i have absolutely zero confidence that they will identify the right players and sign them to appropriate contracts, so sign me up.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 16 June 2019 17:40 (nine months ago) link

ha was thinking the same

lag∞n, Sunday, 16 June 2019 17:42 (nine months ago) link

feel like lakers are walking a tighter rope than the warriors this past year. they seem committed to a 3-star team and idk who they can afford on min contracts. melo, pau, ty chandler? is smush parker still in the league?

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 17:48 (nine months ago) link

I'm in no hurry to see the Lakers figure things out. They don't need a 3-star team, but I'm fine if they want to fixate on that and fill out their roster with second-stringers, broken vets and call ups from G League.

A is for (Aimless), Sunday, 16 June 2019 18:00 (nine months ago) link

Warriors had 4 Allstar level dudes plus iggy and 55% boog. Lakers have a ton of work to do. Lebro is 35 this year and brow hasn’t proven he can log a full season of games which they are going to need. I think theiir best bet is to add a third all star but would love to see Pelinka take a swing at filling the cap space with randoms again lol.

big city slam (Spottie), Sunday, 16 June 2019 18:08 (nine months ago) link

The Warriors arrived at that roster partly through excellent team management and player development, partly through blindingly good luck. By signing Curry to his second contract when his ankles were still a big question mark, they got a break-out GOAT at bargain basement rates. Not going to happen again any time soon.

im in too deep on hoops twitter

hollow your fart (m bison), Sunday, 16 June 2019 18:20 (nine months ago) link

Can they even afford him cap-wise?

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 16 June 2019 22:13 (nine months ago) link

No unless he takes less. The other LA team makes so much more sense

big city slam (Spottie), Sunday, 16 June 2019 22:34 (nine months ago) link

from what i can glean, i think there is a way if they delay the official trade until the end of july. the problem is with that no. 4 pick and idk if new orleans has to do what lakers want. im not clear but i think the lakers are assuming they can still make a full max slot with this delay.
