omg so i just realized i have like a problem with proclaiming my love for new jersey, as in it happens at least once a month. :|

sooo nice out today! happy weekend

surm, Saturday, 13 June 2009 16:02 (fourteen years ago) link

Hi Surm! (BTW I think Jordan was wrong...you didn't need to change your screen name at all if you didn't want to, and in any case Surm isn't as good or descriptive as Surmounter)

If that link above still doesn't work, just double click it, thanks. Me & my friend are off to the cemetery now. I'm so happy when I'm with him. I want to be with him all the time. It's not even a sexual thing anymore, I'm just so happy when I'm with him.

I read that Chastity Bono (child of Sonny & Cher I guess) has recently announced she is changing her sex to male. (Or he is). She came out as lesbian 20 years ago it said. I personally can't relate to FTM transsexuals who come out of the lesbian community very well (I always liked men), but hey, godspeed.

Fever Pitch, Bitch (Bimble), Saturday, 13 June 2009 16:05 (fourteen years ago) link

By the same token, I can't relate as well to Male-To-Females who come out of the gay community. It's a totally different thing when you come out of the straight community.

That said, I'm bisexual and I always will be. Sorry.

Speaking of New Jersey! I just told my best friend a story about an hour ago about when I was about 18 and had just graduated from high school and spent a summer on the New Jersey shore.

Peace ya'll. We're going to the graveyard again! But this time the mausoleums!!! Woohoo! I've been waiting for this. Love you all. Thanks for listening.

went to a match game parody at the LGBT center last night. the contestants were lisa whelchel (drag queen), miss piggy (ridden with swine flu), charles nelson reilly, cher (NOT a drag queen), ricardo montalban, and margot kidder (drag queen, played by someone who was on buffy!). chas bono's sex change was the source of many jokes, natch

hey gays--

really feeling the new thread already, thanx to joe "donna rouge" for the great title and to everyone else for making it happen.

i went to pride last weekend, the fest was "OK" but everything else sucked. it sucked last year too. i couldn't get any drinks, the entertainment was some youtube drag queen with stupid opinions 4 u, lots of attitude on display. i think it's like new years--always gonna be a let down--plus bleaaaarggh gay ghetto vibe. saw the juan maclean on thursday which was not at a gay club or anything but felt gayer than anything during pride .. because the band was amazing, people were having a fucking blast dancing, no bitchez bitching about other bitchez, etc.

oh hai x-post

i think i may miss out on a number of providence pride festivities this year because my younger bro's graduation party is that day, though i'm pretty sure that is no huge loss for me

the club scene on pride night is usually some blown-out drunken shit show, which is not to say it can't be fun, but i don't think i'll be getting blackout drunk and cavorting in an above-ground pool like i did 2 years ago

any by the way, why do banks and cellphone companies get to set up booths at pride festivals anyway? that sort of transparent community/corporate PR bullshit pisses me off

the club i went to on saturday night was sooo packed. they have a weird outdoor space that's two levels with a two-lane walkway connecting every high-traffic spot in the place, i got stuck in that heart of darkness for about 15 minutes just getting shoved around.

You know what, I feel really bad. I gave the wrong impression upthread. I said the singer of Husker Du was gay, but it turns out the drummer is singing on that. I'm talking about Bob Mould, the dude with the (awfully unfashionable) V-shaped guitar in that clip.

I didn't know the drummer sang on that song, sorry.

My friend says he's willing to meet me at midnight so we can go the goth club together tonight!!!!!! IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. Him and his goddamn work schedule...I hate it.

anyway Donna, that whole bunch of stuff you listed here was rather cool:

thanks to Matt P. for his post as well. I think Pride weekend happens to fall on the same weekend when I have to go to this one class as a consequence of my DUI thing. But actually in the end I didn't get charged with DUI, but I still have to go to that class. It's like 8 hours on a Saturday but like I said, I think that's Pride weekend. Not sure.

My ticket to see Tears For Fears arrived in the mail today!!!! HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!

Alright last post for awhile now, gayz. Promise.

I had a whole story to tell you about The Who, but I'm saving that for later. Anyway. Here's the thing. I read one time that an FTM transsexual said to some dude (I'm paraphrasing, don't remember the exact words) "Go to bed with me and you'll find out I'm not like a woman in bed" or something like that. I wish I could remember the exact words. But that is so fucking OTM. And pretty goddamn ballsy as well. I ought to use that line sometime.

xpost Hai Eric

the Husker Du drummer/singer, Grant Hart, is also gay/bi. The sneering indie summary of them in the '80s was that they were "gay and fat."

Guy: BOOO-RING

Fags, so stupid.

Some guy at Metropolitan did flip over my Mekons '93 shirt, tho, so it was worth the 70-minute stay.

Dr Morbius, Sunday, 14 June 2009 09:19 (fourteen years ago) link

hahahah Thanks Morbs! Lovely story about the Mekons shirt!

I had my eye on no less than 4 guys tonight at the gay goth club thingamajig. I thought in the end that surely I could have got lucky with at least one of them, right? I guess if I'm honest, the main hightlight was a kiss from the bartender, beautiful man. So sweet. He held my hand! *BLUSHES* I know he's just trying to make money but goddamn, that was a morale booster for me. Beautiful faggot! I've seen him there before and he charmed me from the first time I saw him, but anyway...

I found out the reason the other girly dude didn't call me back was because he said I didn't leave a phone number and he didn't have caller ID. But I also saw the same other dude who danced with me before and god, there's some kind of chemistry going on between us. But in the end, it's this other dude I'm left thinking of, the pretty punk dude I saw at the Peter Murphy gig. I mean...the problem with him is he's drop-dead gorgeous and yet he doesn't seem to have a partner. I mean what in the living fuck? How could that dude not have a partner? I said to him when I left "you're beautiful, how come you don't have someone to appreciate you?" God I don't have words to describe how beautiful this guy is. Sparkly broach on his neck with black shirt, studded belts, black lipstick, black pants so classy. God, he's a fucking looker. He deserves someone far better than me, I think. I thought he had a girlfriend, but I'm not even sure of that anymore. I'm totally sure that dude is gay. No WAY, you know? The GAYDAR.

But in the end, I just went home with my best friend as usual, and he's asleep on my couch right now. Good news is he doesn't have to work tomorrow and neither do I, I love him so much I can't even tell him.

Where did you go? I went to Neighbors Friday night and it was really lame.

droppin' Hamiltons like MJB's niece (The Reverend), Sunday, 14 June 2009 12:15 (fourteen years ago) link

Terrible. I barely danced with one guy who didn't seem that interested in me, and my friend I went with only danced with me, and I don't count. It seemed like there were no good-looking unattached guys there at all. The first time I went there was way better and kind of super-epic.

droppin' Hamiltons like MJB's niece (The Reverend), Sunday, 14 June 2009 12:18 (fourteen years ago) link

Rev! Sorry to hear all that! You went to Neighbours Friday? I have no idea what Neighbours is like on Fridays. Me & my friend went down to Thursday nights down there sometimes, you know, 80's night? It wasn't too bad. Not bad at all. They play some good 80's stuff and show pictures of 80's bands at the same time. I saw this guy from my work there and all of a sudden realized "oh! him! He's gay! well...that makes so much sense!" LOL

No, but anyway last night I went down to "The Vogue" at "Neighbours Underground" they call it. It's a regular Saturday night thing they have. Best goth night in all of Seattle, trust me. There's an entrance on Broadway that isn't the same one as in the usual alleyway. It's underneath the main club Neighbours. Every Saturday night. There's gays, straights, trannies, you name it, but the theme is goth. Jesus god when they played fucking Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi's Dead" (quintessential goth song) tonight I thought I was going to die. That is some major vampire shit. I kept looking at my friend trying to express with my eyes the depth of the goth going on there, but he didn't quite get it. He likes later solo Peter Murphy instead, poor soul.

Fever Pitch, Bitch (Bimble), Sunday, 14 June 2009 12:25 (fourteen years ago) link

The first time I went to Neighbors, we went on a Friday night to the underground room where they had a latin night where I ran into my Mexican ex-coworker, who I never knew was gay per se, but yeah I knew he was gay, and all my friends I was with (including a straight guy) got their picture taken with a tranny performer, but somehow I got out of it because she left before it was my turn, which I'm kind of glad for. Anyway, in the main room they play really bad, boring mersh house like Britney Spears remixes and ughhhh... on Fridays. I need to find another night to go, but that's the night my friend always wants to go on.

There was this guy last night who I'm 90% sure was a celebrity, but I can't place him. A middle-aged black guy with a close-trimmed moustache. It's totally bugging me.

The Reverend, Sunday, 14 June 2009 12:49 (fourteen years ago) link

Unrelatedly, in the past couple days it seems I've gotten much more comfortable talking to people about being bisexual.

Reverend, my whole computer died about an hour ago. My whole laptop had a freakout. I thought maybe someone was spying on me and just didn't like gays because there I was talking to you and it was really dramatic, all of a sudden the lights on my computer went OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON really quickly and then it fucking died, man. The whole goddamn thing is dead, now. I'm not just drunk, either, I really tried hooking it up to other power outlets, that fucker is dead.

I'm on Windows 98 now, internet on dial up. Anyway sorry Rev. It was horrible.

My friend is still asleep in my living room. I want him to have a good sleep. I saw him out there on the couch, dead to the world. I love him so much, and when he wakes, we'll go to the cemetery again.

Thanks Morbs.

Man. Have not posted here in FAR too long.

Had a date Wednesday with the adorable boy from the bar last week. Went to see J'ai Tue Ma Mere pretentious Quebecois art film that won a ton of stuff at Cannes starring a totally hot 19/20 yr old gay writer/director. After five months, finally managed to ask someone out, so of course it would be a doozy. Dude bolted within five minutes of the end of the film cuz he was tired or not hungry or something. *sigh* At least I got to see a good movie, and hopefully it won't take another five months now for me to make a move on someone.

In other news, I accidentally came out to my grandparents over a steak dinner tonight.

The one thing that did annoy me was my mom telling me to use protection, which in addition to being so high on the "no fucking shit" scale, she never said anything to me like that when I've been dating girls.

The Reverend, Monday, 15 June 2009 01:44 (fourteen years ago) link

xp: Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me. He isn't quite as open-minded as my mom is, but open-minded enough, though. I've heard him make mildly homophobic comments, but I've also seen him tear down my grandpa's anti-gay arguments with ease.
