Also, when I click the date widget, and select a date in the calendar, the date displayed afterwards is (unsurprisingly by now) still wrong, ie not the date I clicked, but the games shown are for the date I clicked. Oh well.

Btw: Same thing happens in multiple browsers, on different computers, while logged in or logged out. Again, no big problem, but it does leave me mystified & curious.

I guess a plausible explanation could be that the widget display is timezone-aware in some way while the rest is not, so that when a dated URL is entered or a date selected in the calendar on my computer, say 11 June 2019, this is on as the time point 2019-06-11 00:00:00 in my time zone, which is converted to Eastern time 2019-06-10 18:00:00 and displayed as date only. The problem would then not show up in any regular US time zone.
