lot of ppl taking about a two-footed tackle by Torrent in the same incident, seemed like more of a block to me. still think a penalty is correct w/ the caveat of it being a bad advert for VAR all the same insofar as it reaffirms how many grey areas there are and always will be

thought france looked p good. norway did cause the odd problem on the flanks, i don't think the french full backs are particularly strong, but their CB pairing is great, not just renard but the #19 as well. diani had a spectacular first half down the right. not sure of the permeations of the draw but they looked solid last 4 prospects, although i didn't see either brasil's or england's opening games. wasn't that convinced by gauvin at CF but she did score.

The game plan seems to be long floated diagonals which the lone striker has no chance of reaching, combined with not clearing the ball properly.

This is a little harsh on Jamaica, who've played some neat stuff in the second half.

Yeah, clinical stuff from Italy, but no way did that feel like a 5-0 game on the balance of play. Football, a cruel mistress etc. Hope Jamaica get a goal at least for their efforts, and against australia's dodge defence they might well.

yeah it's a bit mad to think about in retrospect. i remember telling someone here, my gf maybe, that girls didn't play football because it was a game for boys basically and them just looking at me like id time-travelled to canada from edwardian scotland
