All the great Belle and Sebastian songs out there and they went with “I Want the World to Stop”??

I hate lists like these. I have very polarizing reactions to indie music. When a few good songs are placed next to 10 Beach House, 15 Arcade Fire and 12 Tame Impala songs (for example) I have to burn the list.

and the YLT song they pick is the intentionally warmed-over cure cover

It's hilarious that Pitchfork pretends to be woke, yet still unconditionally praises the band that wrote 'Cause I'm a Man'.

I don’t much care for it but isn’t this song written in character?

This selection is real depressing. “Oh!” is great fun though.

I love Sebadoh, but lmao at the thought of 'Ocean' being a better song than Lana's 'Video Games'. There's an ocean between the two.

it's not actually misogynistic, it's just in the persona of a misogynist, meant as commentary is a poor excuse that is seldom trotted out for anyone other than (white) rock artists

dyl, Monday, 17 June 2019 23:02 (four years ago) link

(black) rap artists use this "excuse" way more.

Never heard the Tame Impala song, but the lyrics seem more like self- loathing than amy hatred of women.

yeah agree

Just for the record, I'm not woke, and no artist owes me any excuse for the content of their art.

When I become quick to judge and label people I don't know at all,I hope I have the courage to blow my brains out.

i'll go ahead and do that, thanks
