Weird, I was just reading a similar thread on Metafilter but there it got deep into whether their site is an 'echo chamber' or not. I'd say both this site and that one have filter bubble tendencies but terms like echo chamber are actually pretty nebulous. My immediate reaction to the Metafilter thread was "yeah but ILE is kind of better."

Was also just thinking I should change my bookmark from ILM to ILE. Over the years, the focus of ILM seems to have narrowed considerably, or possibly my tastes have just diverged. Not nearly as interested in old straight white dude music as I used to be. Whereas at a glance the focus of ILE has broadened, or become less of a clique maybe.

I also used to read a lot of different blogs and aggregators, so much of it has moved to the main social media sites now. Shitshow.

i don't know if ilx is an "echo chamber" but i did start a thread asking for good sites for information and immediately everybody started talking about ilx, which kind of wasn't what i was looking for? but ok.

this is true! i should have specified "besides ilx"; i kind of took that for granted!
